hi,

as always we are having a party BUT somehow this year I seem to have agreed to have 12 kids and 6 adults round its usually only my 3 kids and a friend each (or the cousins if they are up staying). but never mind, the more the merrier!!!

Well we decided rather than just having a few "odd decorations" here and there we would do it properly and have decided on a spiders lair.... so we started buying spiders off ebay months ago and from £1 shop (uk) and various other shops. I have a shoe box full of spiders of various sizes and shapes, some more scary than others. I have bought a spiders nest and have had to pull it to bits and re-make it as it had green netting in the middle that looked totally rubbish, and I have turned a doll that was kicking around the car into a mummified thing in spiders web. My walls are slowly taking the form of spiders webbing all over them.

I have a 6ft rope web to go over my lounge window curtains and a 3ft rope web to go over my dining room window (lounge/diner are "L" shaped), and i've got 3 to stake out in the garden. I bought a sign that said beware and had spiders on it in a sale which is hanging from my lounge doorway. But I have a problem in that I can't pin much to my ceiling as it has polystyrene tiles on it (not by my choice but here when moved in and cant afford to get it plastered til new year). My youngest son (5) has told me that it cant be too scary as he doesnt want his "girlfriend" scared. lol!

And the bit my mates have gone mad for already is my smoking pumpkin - it is polystyrene with a multi light built inside, i cut a hole in the back for my hoover pipe to fit into and the other end is attached to my smoke machine. it looks great!

has anyone else done a spiders lair and can they share any pics please?

I been trying to turn my porch into a spiders lair. We have a huge black cord web in front that has a large spider & a cocoon victim. There are also 5 cocoons of various sizes that hang from the porch ceiling. Hope to work a bit more on them. Love your pictures, that one with the baby is absolutely brilliant!

Should get some more responses now that people are done with Halloween and everyone starts reading the board more.

thanks. will add some more pics after weekend need get sons birthday party out way. everyone who came said it looked reallly good. it took me a week to put it up as i layered the webbing, and it took 2hrs to remove it all. the baby was a doll that the kids had had in car for years, it was filthy from being trodden on etc so i coloured its face with grey felt tip pen, wrapped it in a paper bandage (paper/disposable decorators suit cut into strips) and then covered in webbing and spiders. in total i had 5 like it
That looks great, I like the baby too and the egg sac

I did one in the hallway in 2012
