While my sister and I were checking everything and preparing for tonight we got a awesome compliment. A couple of people were walking by and stopped and discussed our display. While talking the guy said we were the Clark Griswold's of Halloween! We are huge fans of the christmas vacation movie so this was great to hear. A while later as I sat on the porch taking a break behind some props a car stops in front of my house and the driver picks up his digital camera and takes a picture of my display. How cool is that!? As far as we know no one has stopped and taken a picture of our display before.

Oh I fully understand your excitement. It just lifts your spirit when people stop and look over your displays or stop and take pictures, or yell out their windows as they drive past with things like. I love your yard.
One of the best compliments I have gotten so far was this past Sunday. Two very nice gals, close to my age, came to the door right around dusk. They were wearing witches costumes and they asked if they could get pics. with my 3 witches. They had seen them several times while driving past and could not resist getting their pictures taken with them. Halloween is one of their most favorite holiday. So they purposely dressed up and stopped by in hopes that I would say yes. Well of course I said yes.
It just makes you feel good inside knowing that all your hard work is being appreciated. I know a lot of us decorate for ourselves, but still, it just gets you all bubbly inside when others enjoy your displays as much as you do.

That makes it all worthwhile doesn't it? I mean, I'll do it because I love it but when folks throw out the positive comments and take pix and the kids say something that's not on a smart phone is cool...well, it kinda revs you up for next year. Thinking about some kind of rear projection large format atmosphere creator for next year. Great fun tonite and met some new friends...even one whose on the forum and in my neighborhood! Now that's a great night...looking forward to 2018!

When I mailed out a paper mache pumpkin recently I remembered that I had forgotten to take a picture of it and proceeded to set it on top of a box and take a picture against the outside of our shop. In those few moments, I received about five compliments and an order for a similar pumpkin next year. Does make you feel good doesn't it.

Sure does...even the police and fire dept guys stopped and came up for a look. Chatted with those guys for about 20 minutes and really enjoyed visiting with them person to person. And to think I was going to blow off my setup this year.

When we put our hearts and souls into something that makes us and others happy it's always great to hear praise. It drives you to keep doing what you love. It makes all the struggles and start overs and just plain fails all worth it. Sadly I could not put my display on this year due to being sick. Therefore I am going to enjoy through you

Hurray!!! Thats great! That makes everything worth it with compliments and people taking pics. You know they are appreciating
the time it took to make it happen. Time is the most valuable commodity we have. Im glad you had a great time! Good stuff!

Photo ops? You should see our place. The cauldron witch and the 128 lb. Jack O'Lantern fully engulfed in green flames were tremendous hits last night. Not so cool were people taking video in the Chamber of Darkness. I mean, c'mon it's SUPPOSED to be dark...
But I hear you, it's great to see people recording the moment.
