I finally got around to putting together my first ever SPEAKING tutorial video for how to make the noodle roots I used to build the vine arch I recently posted. I'm a bit of an uptight guy so I might seem a bit stiff on nervous as the video starts, but I get more relaxed by the end. My oldest son Quinton did a great job filming for me. Warning - it is long. Over 30 minutes. That was cut down from about an hour of filming we did. I didn't do a complete root to keep things simple and the video as short as I could.

An arch like I made would look awesome with corpsed pumpkins tangled in it. especially with some led flicker lights in each one. Considered it when making mine, but decided I already had a lot of pumpkins in the area it would be in and didn't want to overdo it.

I have a pvc arch with 32 pumpkins in it that are controlled using LOR. I have been wrapping in burlap, but growing roots throughout it would give it a better feel and look.

This gives a very good end result but looks very time consuming! LOL your video was 30 minutes of edited footage only doing part of what looks like a 3 foot section of noodle. I could only image doing the entire archway like this.

That was awesome. Thank-you for the tutorial video. I could see making a tree with this technique as well. Using a sauna tube as the trunk, then making the branches coming off the trunk with the pool noodles. I wondered how you managed to get the textured bark look and how you got paint to stick to a pool noodle. Good use of a giant roll of plastic wrap from Costco.

I went a bit slower than I normally do. I can crank out a 6ft one in under an hour. The arch was done over a couple of months, I'm guessing around 50 hours of work. Yea, it is time consuming, but I was doing a lot of beer consuming as well so it all evened out .

Speaking of texture... Saw someone post before about making a xenomorph alien hive. When I did the black base coat and was looking at it I thought this technique would be perfect for creating that effect too. Just glue some irregular foam shapes and pool noodles to the walls, then corpse over them the same way I've done here, then paint it all gloss black with a few dark brown highlights.

Maybe the first few, but then it becomes a sort of a zen kinda thing where you become one with the noodles. Then the last few become a pain in the *** again because you just want to be done with the damn thing. lol

Yeah, I've noticed as I get older, the ambition tank seems to run out faster than it used to!
