Easy to do -> door lock actuators found on Amazon, as is the remote control relay board & battery case (12v, AA batteries). Birdcages (decorative) found at Michaels (50% off coupon, on cosmetically damaged but who cares). Can of spray paint (black -> quick -n - dirty), both dolls from Spirit (one this year, one last year). Will attempt a quick how to in a bit. Need to listen to the sound for full effect.
All told, about ~$50 per including dolls and cages. Must use coupons to get there, though...
Still need to pick the lighting, and to hide the guts completely.
Worked out just about how I expected.
