And to think all these years I've been painting with brushes!

Just picked up a fantastic new toy! A Kobalt Latex Spray Gun. You need a compressor (of course) but it's a fantastic tool. I am able to spray large projects in 10 minutes -- much better than the hour or so of hand brushing I was doing just last week. It's a great spray gun because it's specifically designed for Latex paints. No need for thinners or anything, just put your paint in the can and go for it.

I was able to spray the inside and outside of my mausoleum, plus the three side panels of my cider shack in about half an hour. It was great!

And with the speed of switching paint colors, I think it will make aging the mausoleum very fun.

I picked up this Latex Spray Gun at Lowes yesterday for $50. Well worth it.

heh....I bought a compressor the other day....some think it was because the three nail guns that come with it can be used to finish trimwork around the house....others think it's for pneumatic Halloween props.

I'll let you figure out which group I'm in

I'm gonna have to try out a spray gun some day...might make me more inclined to finish painting the basement

I got a triple set of guns, too! Got them for Christmas a year or two ago. I was hesitant to use them at first - kept thinking it was easier to just tap a hammer than lug the compressor around. Now I have no problem "lugging" the compressor around if it means I get to use my nail guns. I love 'em and use them for all sorts of projects.

That definately looks like a must have tool to add to the ol prop building tool box. thank you for the information on this. Good ol fathers day, the one day when you kind of get remembered for all the hard work you do. Of course for me it's halloween day when i hear compliments on my props and such.

Frankie's Girl, a compressor is a fantastic purchase/investment in your projects and your home. I love my compressor and use it for all sorts of things. I use it to fill the tires for our vehicles, I have a set of nail guns and a stapler, and now I have this great latex spray gun. The compressor and accessories have really allowed me to do a lot more in a much shorter period of time.

My husband has been wanting a compresser for a while now... I just told him he can go and get one. He then asked if it's because I found a halloween use out of it, and of course I said yes.

Speaking of fathers, I've been buying my Dad tools for xmas and father's day for years, and I'm now slowly taking them all back so I can use them. =)

I've never used this particular spray gun but I'm sure you can spray Minwax with it. Minwax is very watery compared to latex paint so I can't imagine that would be a problem. Being a house painter myself, we use our spray gun for tedious work like shutters, lattice work, deck spindles, lawn furniture, etc. You'll find a million uses for it once you have it.

Yup, this sprayer will accept latex paints and stains. I just ran a colored stain through it today and it worked great. I'm really impressed with this sprayer.

A couple of years ago I bought a Wagner home sprayer. The kind that you plug in and it has a little onboard pump so you don't need a compressor to run it. Well, I have to say I hate the darn thing. It was never consistent and clogged up all the time. My experience with Wagner made me nervous to buy a new sprayer, but this compressor-powered sprayer has been performing great!

My aversion to spending money is putting me way behind all of you guys. But, I do have to brag that I got my compressor for free. At some point I will need to get a newer one. But, so far so good.

YHJ, I commend you on your ability to do a lot of decorating and building for free. It may take a little longer to find that "just right" piece, but saving money where you can is always a good thing.

Something else I learned today...

When using a brand new Latex Spray Gun to paint the exterior of your mausoleum -- make sure the family minivan is far enough away that it doesn't get a dusting of paint!
