In the days before internet, I used to think I was the only person who was fanatical about Halloween. Now I see that is not true.
Everything about Halloween has consumed me since I can remember. Really. I tell people that Halloween is in my DNA & I'm not being casual about that statement. I would trade 1,000 other holidays for just one night of Halloween. The weird part is that my sister is just as fanatical about Halloween. I won't get metaphysical here, but I can't help pondering if there is some sort of genetic and/or pre-ordained factor that predisposes us to Halloween.
Anyway, I'm happy to be a part of this forum & look forward to interacting with everyone here.
I'm not sure about that..the rest of my family think I'm a total looney.
I can sympathise with the internet thing though..I used to think I was the only one who did this kind of thing (I'm in England)... then you find a site like this and discover fantastic people who have been doing it bigger, better and badder than you for years...It's rather a humbling experience.
"I'm not sure about that..the rest of my family think I'm a total looney."
Thanks for the welcome, Baron Samedi. Actually, I have a half-sister who is totally anti-Halloween! Halloween is her most hated time of the year. And yes, she tends to think that my full-blooded sister & I are total loons. But you know what? You can't deny what's in you. And Halloween is in our blood, mind, spirit & soul.
I might also add that my girlfriend is likewise a Halloween addict. She doesn't celebrate any holiday except for Halloween. So I don't know exactly why some people are somewhat predisposed to Halloween. All I know is that there was one year I wasn't able to celebrate Halloween because of extreme commitments. It was one of the most miserable times of my life.
Welcome Ronin! I'm not sure if genetics have a role in this or not! No one else in my family could give two figs about Halloween. Although, I think i am finally starting to win over my younger brother, he started helping me with props last year.
