need lighting advice

692 Views 5 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  crazy xmas
I got this salon head for $3 at a yard sale yesterday and I'm so excited to use it. I plan on using this as a "Lady in White" ghost in my cemetery. What do you all think of the lighting? I'm using a pre lit wire x-mas tree as the frame. Should I go with the lighting like this or leave these lights off and try to go with something else? Thanks in advance!

This is coming from one of the purest newbie novices when it comes to making things, so consider the source here as I way in with my advice.
I don't think I like the look of the interior lights. Love the idea of using the frame for the body, but maybe light it from the exterior by having a light shining on it.
I had thought about putting a spot light inside of her to give her a glowing look. I think I'd like that better than so many individual lights.
Just remember that less is more for lighting.
Imagine yourself in front of your graveyard display in total darkness. Then think what you want people to see with the minimum amount of lighting. Keep it as dark as possible, for that maintains the mystery. A few black lights, maybe a couple of blue or green spots to hight light a few things, & some fog through a fog chiller. Keep it simple & more mysterious. Too much lighting takes away from the over all look of it.

Less is best. What about puting a grey clothe under the white cloth keep the lights on it, but not use them add darker colors like purple, red, maybe green. Next use a 3 way dimmer with remote. I got one from Hobby Lobby last year for my windows to make it look like they were moving. It fads in and out slow realy cool. I like your idea about the tree!!!
