I am working on my pirate-themed yard haunt and I want to build some pilings & pier posts with a really good looking seabird squatting on one of them. I have checked some fake bird sites on the web and they honestly all look like garbage, anybody have a better source?
Or perhaps a different approach to my problem? I'm all ears!

Seagull?

Well, um, give me you're address and I'll send you an authentic, if somewhat decaying, one.

Seriously, though, I'm not sure what "fake bird sites" you're looking at, or what your definition of 'crap' is, but have you considered checking nautical decor sites for wood carved ones? I can see some decent looking ones on google images, but the budget may be out of your reach as well.

There's also taxidermy as a possibility. Not sure how much birds go for these days...

You didn't indicate a price range, and I don't know anything about these places but saw these resin sitting pelicans you might find interesting. While these come from two sources I thought they looked similar but were posed differently:

A month ago I picked up two of the differently posed pelicans from Big Lots' summer items that are carved from wood but on the smaller size and probably not as realistic as you want. The price was right and seeing a pelican in the background will have to be good enough for creating my scene. I understand your desire to have some realistic sea birds for your theme however. It's not something you see very often.
