Thank you all for the kind words we live on a main road so i think that is a big issue. There is a masonic temple across the street from us so people could park there. I really do this for myself, my kids and other kids who enjoy the holiday. but it is depressing when you only get 2. we used to do this at my sisters where we got 200 + kids. But my kids love having their yard decorated with all the stuff instead of 1 day at their aunts. I chose my kids over popularity, but hopefully we will get more one day.

Great looking display! Those of us that decorate appreciate the effort and expense put out to accomplish that!

Being in a really small town (if everybody in town showed up, we would fall way short of jbaum's total!), I was depressed with what few we had, even though way more then 2, and wondered if it was worth all the effort. But Sunday morning, I was already thinking about changes/additions for next year!

Your house turned out just great. And I agree, keep at it they will come! In any event, even though you only had two trick-or-treaters, I'll bet those two trick-or-treaters will remember this house forever. They will probably someday tell their kids about that really cool house they used to go to!

I can understand your frustration. Last year I gave out over 400 full size candy bars and there were so many TOTs that I missed a bunch of them because I was busy talking and activating my pop up props. We have a party at the same time and a bunch of people that come to the party hand out candy as well. I ran out of candy last year. So this year I bought some back up fun size bags in case we ran out. We have seen the amount to TOT's increase over the years which I attributed to the yard haunt and full size candy bars. Two years ago we had a horrible turn out also. I thought it was an anomaly then. Now I'm beginning to think last years turn out was the anomaly? I thought this year was horrible. We didn't have nearly as many TOT's this year. I only gave out about 150 full size kit kats this year. And I was giving some kids extras because it seemed so light this year. I know 150 might seem like a lot when compared to some of the other post. But it was still disappointing from what I am used to. I am actually considering scaling down my haunt next year. We put a lot of work into the haunt and I try to switch it up and add something new and different every year. I know everyone enjoys the haunt, but it almost seems like it's nots not worth all the work. It just wasn't enjoyable for the limited number of TOT's we had. Most of the TOT's we had came in groups. Usually between 5 - 10 TOT's per group. So we actually only had about 20-30 groups come by. I live in a gated community and the gate was not open this year. Last year we left the gate open in anticipation of higher traffic and because it is open until 7 pm during weekdays for people returning from work. Since it was a Saturday this year the gate was closed. Maybe it affected the amount of TOT's we had this year. Plus Taylor Swift was playing in concert on Halloween here this year. So maybe that affected it also? Who know???

I agree I spend a lot of time and money on this and really want others to enjoy it but its becoming more work then enjoyment for me. this would be the 3rd year with less than 6 ToT's. Year 1: 5 ToT's, Year 2: 6 ToT's, Year 3: 2 ToT's.

Your yard looks great! You guys did a wonderful job! Since you want to decorate at your house rather than someone else's, and your house is on a main road, maybe you could host a party prior to Halloween so people could really come see it. Not the same as TOTers, but still really fun!

I grew up on a main road & we NEVER got any TOTers, so we didn't really decorate. We used to go to my Grandmom's house to TOT. If you belong to a local FB group for your area, post there, or let local Girl & Boy Scout Troops know about your yard. Even consider posting on Craigslist! Maybe you'll get more TOTers that way.

I know it's hard to do all that work and feel like it's not appreciated, but believe me - those of us here get a real kick out of it! Thanks for sharing your video!

Great job, looks rad!

I too had a poor turn out.
I have lived in my home for 3 Halloweens, and this years turnout was the worst. I had twice as many last year and the weather was horrible! I have no clue what happened this year, but go figure it was the year I put the most work into my set-up.
Bummed :( AND I have a bellyache from eating all the extra candy. Grrrr.
