I was having a less than happy birthday on Sunday and it only got worse. I was pet sitting for a friend and I got the call from my neighbor around 7:15pm... my garage was on fire.
Halloween forum friends... I lost 34 years of collecting Halloween stored in my garage and I have nothing Halloween left. :(
When I moved to the USA, I fell in love with the holiday and started my collection that first year. The amazing memories, the fantastic deals, and the awesome props both built and bought are no more.
I am tasked with recording all these treasures and more for the insurance company. But this is a difficult task indeed!
I may be asking for help finding some things as I peruse the site as best I can for items that are similar.
My dwelling is safe and my pets are too. Just a shame about the Halloween goodies.

Really sorry to hear that. At least no-one (pets included) was hurt.

If I could give you anything I would but we are over the pond in the UK. Will send good vibes instead and hope that helps.

Sorry to hear your bad news. I hope you can find new stuff here or elsewhere.

I'm sure a lot of us have enough to spare if you need it.

In 2010 I lost everything to a shed collapse/flood.

Since I hand make it all, it was next to impossible to place values on it.

I feel your pain, and can only offer the knowledge that you can move on and perhaps even find new ways to love the holiday. I was left scrambling to put on Halloween at the last minute with no decor and settled on simply carving as many pumpkins as possible, inviting a few people to help...this has evolved into an annual neighborhood event which our yard now revolves around.

I hope you're able to find some good in this situation yourself. Perhaps an insurance settlement will enable you to find a nice piece you'd otherwise be unable to afford, or even break into the light o rama or animated programmable props if you'd like to explore those.

so sorry for your loss. the positive is that lives can't be replaced but things can--as much as it hurts to lose things that are valuable to you, just be thankful that the truly valuable things are still safe. :)

Oh my goodness I cannot even imagine. These " things" as ( common non Halloween enthusiasts) call them are treasures and I truly am so sorry for your loss. I only recently moved to Atlanta and now FINALLY have space to store more beloved treasures, since coming from a very small place in Miami, therefore I don't have much yet. That being said I would love to help out, let me know how. ??

Oh that's really sad to hear TropicalJewel. Glad the loss was confined to just the garage and not your house (with pets etc inside) and assume that your car was not in there. I can feel your pain though. I too have a special place in my heart for many, many things that I have collected over the years and would hate to lose them. Do you have photos over the years that at least show some of them? Also any idea what caused the fire? I hope it wasn't due to some batteries left in a prop. I've been trying to make sure all of mine get removed but you never know if you've gotten them all.

What a terrible birthday you're right. But happy belated anyway and at least you're living past another one so wishing you a happy and healty year is the best birthday wish I could give you. Let us know what you are looking for.
