Music

Many songs are designed to scare us. They send a shiver down our spine or make us want to watch out backs. But what song is best?

(I'd rather stay away from songs with creepy lyrics. I'm mainly talking about music that can be used to set a mood without anything added)

The creepiest song I know is The theme to Halloween by John Carpenter. It's eerie, dramatic, and most importantly, creepy. Does anyone else know of any good songs that chill your spine?

The theme from the exorcist is the one that always gives me the creeps. Good luck.

Tubular Bells, I second that one... You also have the theme from Phantasm.
Theme from the Munsters — I crap my pants when I hear it. :D
I like Tubular Bells, but my favorite is also the Halloween theme. I also like Laurie's Theme and all of the other Carpenter music from Halloween.
I'm not a big fan of scary movie soundtracks, unless the movie is at least 50 years old. For some reason, modern horror movie soundtracks don't scare me as much as they just make me think of the movie they're from.

I love the mood of the songs "Red Right Hand" by Nick Cave, "Heartbreak Hotel" by John Cale, and "Devil's Own" by David Sylvian.
