Ok crew, anybody got a good link to where you can buy motors. Low rpm and high torque I built a couple of props last year using wiper motors but never really had any luck slowing them down enough to get the effect. Don't get me wrong they had the torque to pull a freight train but they just moved to fast for my liking. So here is your homework, give me a good link to where I can by motors and I shall put you at the top of the pedestal and give you full props.

Thanks in advance,

Hello Texas T. Fright Props sells a high torque gear motor. Other options for your wiper motors include using a 5 volt 5 amp power supply or a pulse width modulator to reduce the speed but keep the torque high. I hope this helps a little. Best of luck to you this season. You might check surplus center also to see what they are offering right now.

annamarykahn... you nailed it! I've used wiper motors, with a PC power supply, and 5 volts... works a real treat! Good torque, but the speed is a lot better.
texas_t... check out our latest prop, using that exact setup.

Hey Creepycreations, and every one else thanks for the input. I have been off line the last few days, been having router issues, Creepy I took your advice and picked me up a 5volt power supply rated at 4amps at my local supply house and hope to give it a try this weekend. I will be sure to let you all know the outcome as soon as I give it a try. It has been a little crazy around the house hold this summer and I am way behind on my projects,
Thanks again for all the feedback.....

I posted a similar question recently and got the same type of great advice. I opted to try out the speed control route. I picked up a $5 speed controller from China on Ebay. It came in about 10 days and it works very, very well. If the 5v set up does not work you can the speed controller. Good luck!

Just thought I'd chime in here as far as the post on torque (and voltage). As general FYI, on a DC motor voltage equals speed (how fast the motor will run at a given load) and amps equal torque (how fast it'll get to that speed). Anyway, just wanted to throw that out, I rebuilt electric forklift/golf cart for 30 years so just had to check out the motor post 8^)
