What is the cheapest way to make monster mud? I know very little about it, what I am looking for is a smooth look and something that you can paint. Any help will be appreciated. THANKS.

http://terrorsyndicate.com/tsp_mm.html has the recipe. It's basically a 5 to 1 ratio (5 gallons of joint compound to 1 gallon paint)
