Have a wiper motor to lift the lid, the problem I run into is the motor has a "threaded post" which does the spinning, what do you all use for a "shaft" to connect the motor with the cam??

Damn, Im stummped!!!

Check this pic of my tombstone popper. The flat aluminum bar connects to the crank arm provided with the motor. I used a 1/4-20 bolt with a stop nut (steel nut with a nylon insert) to attach the bar to the crank arm. The stop nut prevents the linkage from tightening or loosening itself when it moves. Another way to get the irregular motion would be to attach your cam directly to the motor shaft. Here's an example:
