All you making your 3 axis skulls from that lindberg skull buy. May as well show you another thing I've been up to with mine.

Well, the first Crystal Skull, anyway. I got some smaller ones coming soon as well to go with it.

You'll have to forgive the fuzzyness, I didn't want to use flash to show how it refracts the light and couldn't find the tripod. And they didn't look quite so fuzzy on the camera's little screen.

More to follow soonish, but these take a while to set up. (a week or so)

Yeah...my sd card fried. I'm have a new one and have new pics of the mold uploaded. Some of the in-progress stuff was lost though. Will be posting soon.

Thanks! Have you done any tests with lighting? How well would a strobe show through it?

I don't use strobes as I'm somewhat affiliated with a school that caters to kids who, among other things, have epilepsy. So, everything I do is epilepsy safe.

I've done lighting with some colored LED's and firelight, and that's it. I'll get pics of that tonight. With a tripod, this time.

Pictures ahoy

Alright, tripod enabled pictures ahoy!

Here's just a plain pic of it, only lit by the window (and still catching a bit of light there)

Now then. I lit it with a tiny color changing led tea light: Craft Supplies: Sunshine Discount Crafts: NEW ITEMS
Of all the assorted things I've bought over the years, these buggers are some of the more impressive. Cheap, you can rip off the 'flame' to get an easy led light, or gut the thing entirely for just the led and battery to imbed into something.

Red reflects the best for some reason. Fills the whole skull up. But it also tended to hide the details.

The blueish color was much better, showing definition, but didn't photo quite as well.

Yellow/orange tended to just hilight the features, and was pretty cool too.

This firelight here was WELL behind and below the skull (in a fire pit, the skull is 9 ft away and 4' above the firepit, and slightly off to the left.) Not the optimal angle for it to catch the light, but not bad either. (it was the only place I had something to put it on) Bears some playing around.

I hope to be able to post the tutorial tomorrow.

Simply awesome!!! That will work perfect for my next project. I will parked in front of my computer until the tutorial. Quick question, though. Is the skull hard or soft(flexible)?

Hard. It's essentially clear plexiglass. And I make a warning up front, this was neither cheap nor 'easy' and has some very real dangers of poisonous fumes, chemical and more standard variety of burns.
