A key rule of thumb is If an item was exposed to a lifetime of smoking, it will have a lifetime of outgassing. Sometimes no amount of airing out will help.

The problem with the truck is the air filter in the ventilation system. If you get that replaced, the smell will finally go away. I had the same problem a few years back with my car. The engine got overhauled, the mechanic installed a gasket improperly and oil leaked all over the engine and burned, with the smell being pulled into the car through the ventilation system. I did everything under the sun to get rid of the smell and finally ended up having to remove the dash board to access the ventilation cluster to change the air filter.
