I would like a simple way to make my props shake this year, without having to build anything too elaborate, or purchase an actual bush shaker. I intend to put motion detectors on the props, turning power on and off. I've thought about : an old blender and an old electric drill. Any other suggestions, tutorials, ideas?

You could make a shaker mechanism by cutting out a wooden disc and attaching it to a drill, but instead of centering the disc perfectly onto the drill, you need to offset it a little so it's off balance. You have to experiment how off balance it is according to how much shake you want. Then secure it in some type of housing (box, bucket, etc.), making sure that when it's turned on, the disc isn't hitting the inside of the housing. Then attach this to (or insert into) the prop you want to shake. This would pretty much work with any type of motor you can get your hands on. A blender motor would work with a little creativity.
