Hey y'all! I thought I'd start a thread (and have been encouraged to do so, because I thought it might be silly) about my upcoming party. I'm a bit nervous about it, since most of you are extremely good at decorating and building props.. But also I've been organizing this party with my partner, who's completely new to the whole Hallowe'en fenomenon, since it's not that well-known in Holland... and I could use some input and maybe some encouragement. By all means, feel free to just skip by this thread, but meanwhile I'll just be building a virtual version of the party here, if that's ok. I only have two days to decorate my mother (and before her grandfather's) dental clinic. It's a chance of a lifetime. I've been working here the past here and for three generations, at least three people wide, my whole family has been a dentist or assistant in one way or another and this is sort of been holy ground to us. And now that's my mom is retireing, I've got this window of opportunity before I have to tear the whole clinic down... And it's HALLOWE'EN! I'm so excited!!! Hope it puts y'all into an inspired mood and say anything you please about it!

The operation room will be sort of museum like, to keep things safe and behind those huge doors is the office, where the actual party will be at.. I recon I should explain more in later posts here XD

So sorry about the spelling mistakes, my English seems to be a bit rusty. Obviously I'll decorate my moms practice and not my mom! XD
So if you see the picture of the deco I got, there's a bunch of tiny stuff that I hope will not disappear in this huge space. Mostly, I thought to go for a modern experiment kind of room in the operation room > on the wall behind the chair will be a bunch of masks like the one with the green wig, like there's been testing on them. On the table-like thing in front of the double doors will be a plastic bloodspattered table cloth (which for once I think is cool, normally it's not my thing) with the drinks, to give people a reason to come into this room. I haven't really payed much attention to food honestly...

The room behind it, the office, will be mostly empty, except for a big half round desk (which my granddad built! yay!) which will be decorated more old fashioned, like a doctor's office in the 1800's... and the changing pictures on the wall, sort of hologram-like, depending on the light, someone living or dead is on it.. only have two of them so far, I think I will buy a couple more, to make it look complete. On one empty wall I'll project movie scenes from horror movies and I've just put in aout an hour of mad-scientists scenes, like Back to the Future and such, to keep it reletively light and funny. The music will be over there as well and room to hang about or dance (I alwasy hope for dancing, sometimes it happens, sometimes it does't ) and a big wine barrel that I hope to paint bright green with a nuclear sign on it and a picture on top of The Return of the Living Dead zombie stacked in it. I don;t know if the paint will take, since last year I turned the barrel into a huge pumpkin, painting it orange with blac pumpkin faces on it

Then, as my character wil be a 'Synthetic Vampire-Perks Specialist' , who offers lotions and solutions to humans to enjoy the perks vampires have, like imortality, the ability to hypnotise, 'turning off your humanity' and such, which ideas I mostly stole from Vampire Diaries and True Blood, I've been making these bottles of Tru Blood and viles of V, for whomever knows what I'm talking about. It's still not finished, need to print out the labels and so on. I'll fill them with Bloody Mary and mixes of the like and put them amongst the regular drinks. Except for the V, I think I'll keep those in my handbag, to make it a little like I'm dealing

And normally we have this welcoming-drink, that's green with bubbles, but I fugured this year, they'll get a plastic cup of bubbles and a vile of Pisang Ambon to mix it themselves.. I thought that if they'd straight off be mixing green-with-bubbles-something, that would get guests in the mood and feeling like they're a part of the lab. Feel weird giving out my silly secret receipe though hahaha.

Then, I suppose last thing I will post tonight. since I have no idea if anyone even wants to read about this, my guy and my have been building these simple props at his place. He made the first moving prop I've ever had at my party, so I'm really thrilled! 't's just a vibrating hand... I suppose it makes a lot of you laugh, since I've seen such wonderful props been made here...but, for me, this is a real break-through moment! I hope he agrees I can put it up on YT later, so I can link it here

Right.. "My guy made me a vibrating hand"sounds really weird, hahaha, so here's a picture. It'll be attached to the ceiling with a spinning.. dude ..knob is just nt the word I'm looking for... ehm.. metal handle-thing. And it just hops around a bit, nothing drastic. He built it out of an old playstation controller, there's this moving partice in it that he took out and 'implanted' in the hand and wired up But IT MOVES! and to me, that's a big thing!

What a great place to have a Halloween party! That's really clever what your guy has done with the hand. I really like the idea of guests mixing their own drinks from vials.

And don't forget, if you're ever worried about not having enough decorations to fill a room, a lot of cheap spiderwebs can make a really big impact! I mean, if your mad scientist is experimenting on people, he surely doesn't care too much about cleaning, right?

So here's some decoration I made, it look much better in the dark, with all the tiny lights on. But I didn't dare open ervything up again to turn the lights on and make a picture by night, since it's rather weak material and I'm afraid I'll rip it. So you'll have to imagine the rest for now The little viles are Pisang Ambon , which the gueste will recieve when the enter the party, in this plastic bag , which will also contain a list with questions (not unlike a character sheet), to describe themselves. Later on they will be put through a psychological test, based on that form, to see what 'personal enhancement' they need. If this makes any sense. Haha. The bag itself can be written on and will serve for them picking the Maddest Scientist 2016 ; they can write in on the bag and the bags will be gathered in...I really don't know yet. But so far it seems like a fun entrance. Ow wait duh, other than the plastic bad, they receive a plastic cup with bubbles (the wine with bubbles kind XD) and they'll had to mix themselves a drink with the Pisang Ambon viles > the drink will turn green ad bubbly I thought it would put them in the mood of being a scientist; once they start off in the lab mixing somethinh, instead of feeling like a visitor.

Ow, and the tiny bottles with the corks are absynthe > I thought it'd be nice to portion them and they look really cute in a chocolate box!
