I was browsing Walmart's website yesterday and look what I found. I have seen members spending a lot of money trying to make good looking coffins when all along you could buy them from Walmart. Who knew?

Costco has had them for a long time. Didn't know Walmart carries them too.

Love the one/two day delivery thing. When you need it, you need it.

I have thought about buying one and using it for a prop. Then when the day comes that I need it, it would be sitting right there ready for me. Seems a shame to only use it once. This way I'd get (hopefully) many years of use out of it.

Being Wal-mart though, I'm surprised they don't also sell a "budget" cardboard version.

I had a friend back in Chicago who had a coffin. He had warehouse space so storing stuff wasn't an issue for him. One halloween he decided to rent a hearse, used his open coffin to lay in as a dead body and the rest of us got to ride in the hease with him and hit Rush Street bars. I was in my early 20s at the time and he was in his late 20s. He passed away a number of years ago and I always wondered if his wife knew he had the coffin in storage and used it to bury him in. I'd say he was probably my most interesting friend ever. He was a drop out from college (one semester I think he said), went into real estate, made a fortune, always drove a Benz but liked his Jeep too, had one of the early Sony Betamax's which he lent me when he bought another...I was so excited to have use of it, he had one of the early Apple computers...he was very big on new technology. The tech stuff was really cool back then because no one I knew had it. He also liked antiques too and loved to go to the auctions. Very into music and managed a band. Went with him when the group was playing and got to go into the recording studio when they were laying down tracks. Very cool guy. Miss him and think of him off and on. And he was the ONLY one I have ever known who had his own coffin.

I'd say if you have the room to store a coffin, go for it. You will undoubtedly be remembered by those around you for years to come!

The description does say it's corregated...so not sure what the material is. It would have to support the weight of a body...or having it fall out would be a very bad thing and a scene straight out of the movies..surely would have some of the funeral goers pass out! If it's cardboard the price is still pretty expensive.
