does anyone know how to take apart the motor mechanism located in the upper chest of most life size gemmy animatronics? it the part that contains two motors .. one for moving the head and one for moving the torso/chest.

I was able to remove the entire mechanism but cant figure out separate the upper mechanism from the lower mechanism.

looks like a gemmy life size Leatherface prop I have him love it whats wrong with yours? If the head is not moving its on the top section when you take the head off that section that hold his head needs to come off just unscrew it there are some gears in there they are plastic and cheap. its in the first pic you provided. If you are trying to get him to swing at the waiste I heard some of them don't move at the waist they were made that way. It could also be a wire came loose and needs to be resoldered. Be careful not to pull too hard if you are taking the torso apart the plastic is flimsy.

found the answer...

you need to work your way from the top and work downwards.. there are servos to be removed.. never like touching those but I had to...there is one difficult phase. once you remove the top servos.. the plastic cup that contains it has two screws.. leave those alone.. they serve no purpose except to keep the motor in place. the three torso I have opened... those screws were actually loose and I just left them in place.
Anyways ,the plastic cup is WEDGED in place and you need to use a very thin flat screwdriver to release the cup in a circular pattern until it is high enough for you to pull it out with your hands.. after that.. just some more screws and its all apart.

I am working on two leatherface animatronics and one original Jason animatronic(black hands/gray solid plastic face).. trying to get all parts moving as they should...

I have a new version of Jason animatronic(yellow gloves/latex pink face) that I am using as a model to put the parts back together...

I truly believe any leatherface that does not move at the torso is not doing so, due to poor wiring /disconnected servos...

regardless... I am having fun

:)
