In a few minutes I will be going a few blocks away to celebrate my Grandson Sean's 4th Birthday (CAKE will be there!)
This Friday, January 22 at 11am I will be going 5 blocks away to the Methodist Church ..for my Mother's Memorial Service....
I put the notice of her death on Facebook recently. I was very touched by those statements I read there that were written by local people who knew her during her 86 years.
My Mother was always involved in something. Women's Club, Bowling (Three trophy's for highest series.) When she couldn't bowl anymore, she kept score on Saturday mornings for the kids bowling league, so many now 35 yr. old "Kids" knew her too.
My Grandmother, my Mother's mother and my Mother were both Halloween enthusiasts, dressing up each October 31st.
I watched my Grandmother being very despondent one October say she wasn't going to "dress-Up" then smeared flour/water on her entire face, wore an old dress and looked extremely creepy and unidentifiable for the Parade!

"Birth", -- "Life" (And some terrible Hospital moments in between) She is at rest now.
When Dad died it was quick, Mom took two months. She was in the local Nursing home for a few weeks, she loved it! so many new people to meet and some old friends. some of the nurses were little girls from the neighborhood growing up with my sister, coming to our house to play... then watching my Mother 's health 24 hours a day.
I'm getting choked up, almost Ice Cream Time anyway, thank you for reading this.

Jim your mother sounds like a lovely woman, you will have many wonderful stories to share with your grandson Sean during the years to come!

Enjoy and share those memories always. Blessings to you and your family during this difficult time. <3

Sorry for your loss, Jim. It is nice that she was able to find pleasure in her time at the nursing home, it sounds like she was a social and engaging person, wonderful character traits that Must have made her a treat to be with.

Thank you, Greenwick, I sure do seem to have it. My Brother provided the direct, hands "ON" care for both of our parents in their later years. He needs more companionship and friendliness from others than I probably do.
I have been seeing him almost everyday ever our Mother was hospitalized, We both spent quite a lot of time with her in the local Nursing home and hospital.
Thank you again for your concern. We are doing pretty good.
