Stopped by Kmart today for something totally unrelated to Halloween but had to make a pass through their H'ween section. Absolutely pathetic. A row of costumes, some makeup and cheap plastic weapons. They had two skeleton cats both if which had broken legs. also had two of the skellie bulldogs and one pose and stay. No masks and only a couple of cheap props. I remember them having a very nice selection of stuff a few years back but it's honestly not even worth the trip. another place to cross off the list.

Holy crap you aren't kidding! I went there a couple hours ago, walked out with a dvd (for a friend) and a hand towel. Their selection sucked, it was only 3 half aisles and all of it except one side was costumes and costume accessories, then of course the whole entire lawn and garden section.... CHRISTMAS! Friggin trees, ornaments, lights, lawn decorations, inflatables..... no Halloween worth even mentioning. And they had these stupid singing things that sang songs not even remotely related to Halloween.... La bamba and I got you babe.. I mean come on!

I also went to target hoping to find something decent there after the super disappointment that was kmart's Halloween section... another huge disappointment. I wanted to look at the skeleton crows that everyone is on about... nothing, just more freaking costumes and then the ugly decorations and foam crap. I had an easier time finding decent Halloween decor in Kansas, unless its just this year that everything is sucking..... Or maybe it's still too early for my area... I'll check back in a couple weeks, but everything I saw today looked incredibly picked through like it was the end of October instead of the end of September. Super bummed if this is all we get this year, guess it will make not blowing all my money on Halloween decorations a bit easier though.

LOL, I have to agree. My youngest daughter and I were on our way to a Spirit store that was in the same shopping center with a Kmart. So we thought we'd run in to see what we might trip over, and I think we left just as quickly.

Really? Our small Kmart had 4 aisles plus end caps. 4 foot section of masks, nothing great though, 4 feet of lights/stakes, some small animated guys like the banjo skeletons, typical hanging reapers, and an end of 5 foot skeleton bride and groom couples. Plus they still had boxes unopened in front of a couple empty sections.

That's exactly what mine has too. And it's all crap.

I grabbed a couple of heads at rite aid yesterday on their buy one get one free. I've also picked up a couple videos at K-mart. I haven't spent a dime at Target, Biglots, Halloween City or Spirit. I may go back to rite aid and stock up on orange lights now

I had some good luck online with Kmart Halloween a few weeks back, and sale prices too. But same as others have reported, the in store selection is beyond terrible. The only thing I even smiled a little at was their mariachi version of the skeleton playing banjo. And now LaBamba is back in my head again. Save yourself a trip and tons of frustration. :(

Online has been better than the storefront at K-Mart this year. They put Tekky tabletop jumping spiders on clearance for $6 (a $24 markdown). But the stores have been filled with not much of anything and a great deal of what was there was broken or otherwise dead and untestable.

That's too bad. In years past, K-mart would carry some really unique Halloween items. I still have the life-size talking skeleton guy that sits up in his coffin that I bought there many years ago.
I never really bought much from K-mart, but I would clean up there during the after-Halloween sales!

That was exactly what I did too. Blech. Totally worthless this year.

What really struck me about the K-Mart that I went into was how horrible their selection of masks was. Apparently you had three choices at that store, a bloody mouthed panda bear, a bloody mouthed brown bear, or a stuble bearded cigar smoking man. They had loads of the bear masks. For some reason I found the panda rather disturbing.

K-Mart has been on the decline in general for years, I think. I remember when it used to be up there with Target in terms of popularity and quality, but every time I've been in one lately (which isn't often or by choice, usually) it's always a sad sight.
