Well I searched but not seeing a thread for this year for Joann's Fabrics, just for other years. I thought I saw one but guess it was just someone's post about a find or sale there in one of the general shopping threads. So here's a dedicated thread for this year.

Had to run in today to look for something non-halloween and saw that they had started their Halloween merchandise sales. Through today, 10/3, they have the Wilton Halloween food crafting items on sale 30% off. Other stuff was 30-50% off (Funkins too). Maker's Halloween and Decor is 50% off.

Here's a few photos I took. The Wilton beakers are kind of like shot glass size but nice as they have the markings on them like real beakers. The test tubes are pretty small and good for one gulp I would guess or a shot of Jelly Belly's. I picked up the Frankenstein head (reg. 9.99, now 6.99--think it should have been 4.99 hmm) to use in my Mad Lab. And couldn't resist the cool raven feather garland (actually goose feathers, reg. 15.99, now 7.99). Very witchy I thought. I was thinking maybe of using it as a garland drape around the neck of a witch doctor in a swamp scene.

When I was checking out with my 4 garlands and Frankenstein head, the cashier asked if I had a coupon and said to pull out my cellphone and directed me to their website coupon area. Thanks to her I also saved 25% on top of that (10.08). Left happy with my purchases. Xmas is already being stocked and now that Halloween has started to get marked down in these last few weeks, what's left goes pretty fast. Saw some nice costume and accessories on sale too.

AND... the October issue of Good Housekeeping Magazine has a $5 off $10 coupon! I've snagged two coupons so far. I was hoping to make it to Joann's today- but didn't manage it. Coupon expires October 31 and is good on sale and regular priced items. I haven't seen this coupon anywhere else.

AND..... on their website is a coupon for 40% off any one regular price item that ends today. There will be a 50% off (any one regular priced item) starting tomorrow but the 25% off total purchase ends today. I was able to purchase several items that were already marked down 50% and got another 25% off of that.

The 40% coupon on any regular priced item saved me almost $13 off of the chiffon I bought for a projection project.

Last year Joanns had a fabulous selection and I had high hopes for this year... Sadly I was unimpressed. A few ornaments for my Halloween tree but not so much else in my store. Don't mean to sound like a downer, just my two cents! Anyone else?? Just me??

By stopping today to pick up what I did, I saved $35 on 50% off halloween plus the 10.08 using the extra 25% off entire purchase coupon, so $45.08. The feather garland and Frankenstein head are both unique to Joann's so really couldn't have bought anywhere else.

Plan to go back to see what else they have left tonight. I know I want to buy some cording there that is regular price, so THANKS for the heads up on the 50% off one regular price item tomorrow. That should save me a decent amount on it.

I fully agree. I think that I bought one whole (already cheap) item from there this year, in large part because I happened to be passing by Jo-Ann on the way to another store and wanted to make use of the coupon:D

GoS, Michael's had a Frankenstein head as well. I'll pull one of mine out in the morning and see if they are the same.
I saw some styro heads on the Michaels thread but not Frankenstein (maybe someone didn't get him in the photo if they did stock him). If they did carry him, love to see a photo of yours if different and would be curious what he retailed for. I actually haven't been into Michaels since getting caught in their credit card info theft after shopping there for halloween last year or the year before. Looks like they did get in lots of nice stuff this year. Probably a good thing I didn't go in cause didn't need the temptation.

The Frankenstein head at Joann's was one of those spur of the moment purchases. Hadn't seen it anywhere and just felt I could do something with it for my haunt. Maybe I'll cover it with moss and make a topiary out of it and put it on one of the lab desks or wall racks.

I actually haven't been in Joann's for sometime either. Yesterday didn't see any of the halloween props other than a dog I think. Pretty much sold out of a lot of the early stuff from what I can tell from people's photos. I basically look at Joann's as a good local source for Wilton, fabric, craft material and some halloween decor. I also like the Joann Funkins better than the Michaels craft pumpkins (don't care for their coloring). I also have a Hobby Lobby for Funkins, Wilton, fabric and craft material. Some halloween decor. Of the 3 stores, Michaels I would say has more halloween decor at least in my area.

I've only been to JoAnn's once this halloween season and all I bought was a pair of fox socks ( I have an obsession with Foxes..is that a word?) I don't remember seeing the Frankenstein head there. I just bought one yesterday at Walmart 4.47 there so about the same price with the 50% off ( more if you had another coupon) They had a witch, a skeleton with a skeleton neck , and a zombie. Is that the same that JoAnn's had? and then they also had the typical male and female heads. I really liked the skeleton and I liked how they painted the zombie, I just don't know if I have the skills to make the zombie look good. Didn't really care for the witch, her head seemed tiny.

I picked up some of these cuties for my rat and NBC-loving friends a couple of weeks ago; it's not technically an NBC item but it has that vibe. A bit pricey for the quality ($7) but just the thing for certain people. I'm hoping they have a few more as the list of potential recipients keeps growing.

GoS, the Frankenstein head you bought is better. It has a neck and more detail Iin the face and hair. Is it Styrofoam or plaster? The two I got at Michael's were plaster. They had Styrofoam wig heads but no Frankies.
The Joann's head is styrofoam. I'll grab a few close up photos.

in the meantime, here are links to the carved styrofoam heads listed currently on Joann's site (Part of Fall sale, reg. 9.99 now 6.99, so not part of that 50% off halloween sale they just had).

witch - http://www.joann.com/styrofoam-witch-eps-skull-bulk-white/14359087.html#start=1

zombie - http://www.joann.com/styrofoam-zombie-eps-skull-bulk-white/14359095.html#sz=54&start=55

Frankenstein - apparently sold out online, not seeing it listed. Probably just what's left in stores.

While I was in Joann's the other day, I saw that they had several different diameters of 100% cotton cording (used for creating the tubular edging on pillows for example). It wasn't on sale and I knew there was a 50% off coupon I could use it on through today so went to pick some up this afternoon. Plan to use it for my jungle theme (vine) and repurposed for my pirates theme (seaweed). Went for the widest diameter (reg. 1.99) thinking it more like a jungle vine a skeleton monkey or skeleton tarzan for example could swing on. Told the lady that I needed 20 yards of it (half the box). She said "OK.....can I ask what are you going to use it for?" LOL. So told her about my vine project. She's the same clerk who waited on me two years ago when I went in looking for blood red or maroon velvet-like material to make my roped off elevator area for my haunted hotel. She remembered me too! Funny what things people will remember you for :D.

If anyone is in need of some last minute shopping at Joann's there's a 50% off reg. priced coupon on the website good thru Sat. 10/17. In-Store and online (Code: Savefifty290). Might pick up some thinner cording so my jungle vines have a more realistic look to them not being all uniform in size.
