I don't mind putting up Christmas lights and a few decorations around the house to make it cozy and festive for the holidays - it's a nice trade-off with the wife for all the mayhem she puts up with during the haunting season. But I DO have a problem with stores putting up their Christmas displays simultaneously with their Halloween stuff. No kidding - saw Home Depot already unpacking their Christmas stuff in a roped off aisle last weekend. Pathetic.

Check with your Home Owners Association, one year I got fined for tearing down too early, I think it was like the 27th of the month.
The plus side is the fine was offset by the amount of money saved on candy and the smaller electric bill.
But, I must admit UnOrthodOx's answer hit it out of the park!
and to Scatterbrains, one of the top posts!

How about I was in a store the other day and the had taken all but 1 half on an aisle of their Halloween stuff out and had Christmas stuff everywhere. Trees, decorations, lights - the whole nine yards. The person I was with said it had been that way for over a week! Really?!?!?!
