I pinned this prop awhile back, and the site that it came from has always been under construction, so there is no tutorial.

Does anyone know what is used in this? I'm hoping that someone here has done this, and can enlighten me.

I can tell that it's chickenwire, but does it need to be painted or treated to glow?

I see a projector in the background as the light source, and what looks like a vacuum hose leading from the projector and up to the form.

Would that alone give this piece the appearance of being fiber-optic?

Thanks for any help with this!

Yea, I remember seeing that prop a while back. I love the look of it, but I have no idea how it was done.

I've wanted to make some of those chicken wire ghosts, though.

Yes, you're right. This one is much brighter, too. Maybe the other one uses fewer fiber optic cables. Oh well, I can always dream of making one.

The photos in the other thread helped a lot, and it looks like the same prop to me, whether or not it is in the same location as the other photos (I didn't compare that).

Thanks for all of your help, everyone!

Incidentally, below are a couple photos with what appears to be a similar construction; seems like fiber optics is the solution here:

LairMistress, somewhere on my Pinterest boards I have a tut (searched but can't find at the moment-will keep looking). Image #1 definitely looks like fiber optics. Not sure if this will help...What I do recall is that most of these chickenwire ghosts do have 1 layer of cheesecloth(treated with whitener) covering them, which disperses the light. Even the smallest light source from within works. There was also another person who said they sprayed the chickenwire with glow in the dark paint.

These are fiber optics. There is an artist in London who has done these here is the link-http://www.lumiere-festival.com/durham/programme/dresses/

I made some chicken wire headless ladies for this years haunt. I spray painted white and then with glow n dark paint. I used glittered tuille for a more ethereal effect and have a blue light to shine on.
I posted it on my Youtube page https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ztdd8Z3ftUc and Pinterest page http://www.pinterest.com/chefjuli/halloween-inspiration-2014/
I have been thinking about using a fiberoptic whip which is about 100 dollars to make another one. We'll see! I love the chicken wire sculputures on Pinterest.

Hope that this helps!!!
