Is it possible to cut the wires to the step here pad and replace with a $12 flood light motion sensor from Lowe's?

I really don't think it's going to work....different voltages. You would need a lower voltage to trip the circuit. I would suggest a low cost home security motion sensor that you can find in almost any home improvement store or Wal Mart. Take the alarm buzzer/speaker out of the motion detector and tie your two wires into that so when motion is detected, it starts your prop. Most of those detectors have time delay settings etc. so that you can set it and give your prop time to "recycle" instead of continuously running......cheers 'Scruff

I use a flood light motion sensor with a 12 volt walwart that is hooked up to an automotive 12 volt relay. wire the walwart to terminals 85 & 86 on the relay, then run a wire from terminals 30 & 87 to whatever you want to trigger (terminal 87 is normally open, terminal 87A is normally closed)
