Apologies if there's another thread with this...but I'm curious what everyone spends every year on Halloween (props, decorating, parties, etc.).

i normally spend between $100 and $200 some years more other years less
I voted more than 1000.00 but that's only because I've been buying and planning since Feb. I started with nothing! When spread out over the months it doesn't hurt as bad. Next yr won't be so costly. I'll just buy a little to add to the collection. :)
I have easily spent over $1000.00 and still going, but like dippedstix was saying, "It doesn't hurt as much when you spread it over several months."
I've jumped from 15-200 bucks depending on the year. A lot of my stuff is home made, and less expensive.
Between £100 - £200. We try not to buy decorations as we have a large collection built up now (though we usually still buy some!) Most of the money is spent on food and drink!
Do share your secrets, those of you who spend <$300. I spend that much on food and drinks alone! Plus all the consumables like napkins; and the things I buy every party like serving dishes, decorations, etc.
ibought my jason and little things at garden ridge but im just starting and i have about 6 more 50% micheals coupons im starting to add more and more to my stash..lol

We usually buy napkins etc in bulk so they do a couple of years. As for food again we usually make a few big dishes, like a massive pot of soup. It's cheap enough to make and everyone loves it!
Around $400 this year but only $100 of that is for food. The guests are asked to provide snacks, and a few of them are willing to do themed foods for me. :}

Same here- for example, I just spent 50.00 in 2 days buying stuff like that at the Dollar Tree and Dollar General. I think I'm done spending for a while!! I am scared to wait to buy it- all the good stuff might be gone!
I'm allowed a $200 budget every year.

OMG I did, too! DH was upset with me - not about the money, but because we're still 2 months away and I'm buying things. Which means I'll only continue to spend, spend, spend until Halloween.

I think we might have a chili and potato bar, with other peckish things to munch on... should be cheap enough, I hope.

That's what we're doing too. My hubby is a cook and can tend to go overboard with the cooking. We've decided to stick with small appetizer type items- just do lots of them. He thinks we can pull it off without having to refinance the house...I'm not so sure. LOL!! Anytime he's involved with cooking something it's never cheap. We'll see!!! We thought about doing chili too because it just seems like a perfect dish to serve for a party like this but I am scared it might be too warm here. You never know this time of yr what the weather is going to be like. One yr everyone was wearing jackets and sweatshirts and the next yr my chocolate was melting. LOL

ps- I was going to stop in Walgreens yesterday (been stopping in every 3 /4days or so to see if the've put their halloween stuff out) but I figure I better not. It was hard, but I passed it and came straight home. LOL!

At least $1000, which includes clearence stuff at end of year and the things I get for new creations and the food for the party, I have the old faithfuls that bring dishes too. You really don't notice when it is spent during the course of a year. this is my 10 th year and each year it cost more....but hey, that's what I work for ......
Oh go ahead

You know if you wait too long it won't be there and they won't be able to get any more in and you will never ever, ever see it again and you can go without food for a week or so to pay for it and we can stop the newspaper delivery to pay for it too and, and, and see what happens to me if I go in. Security has to drag me out.
My answer isn't how much I spend....but how much have I spent. If ever I had to add up the value of all of our props and decor -- I'd be ill. When figuring out how much you spend --which year do the "after" Halloween purchases fall under? When I start shopping in the summer I try to forgot what I spent on and after Halloween the previous year.

I need everyday decorations here and there for our house that I never seem to buy but when it's for Halloween -- I've gotta have it. What can say? I think it's best if I don't know the aswer to your question. Now if you want to know how much I spend on our bar every year --that I can tell you.
I usually spend about $100.00 on the food and I spurge one something special that I wanted to add to my collection ...... and I've brought on Ebay and have found a few great iems there.... and for a cheap prices..
Had to try an translate that in my head from $ to £. I spend about £200-400 inc treats for the kids & costuming as well as props. Hoping to curb that expenditure this year by making more props than buying.

LOL! Too funny! I'm so glad I am not the only one with this problem!!
