i'll be heading to lowes this weekend then i guess.

One thing on the T-nuts, They have prongs on the flat disc, they will need to be cut or filed off before you can bring them down tight. Second if you don't have a way to keep the body compressed it will expand beyond the rod. The last thing is that you may not have a way to drive the nut home because it has no way to drive it with any kind of tool that I know of. I would look at the cotter pin and some standard nut.

There are 2 types of T nuts that Lowes carries. One of them has the spines as mentioned above that will need to be filed or at the very least flattened. There is a 2nd style that is flat and has 3 small holes in it that I can only assume are for screws...... They are both in the same parts tray in the store.
