Hi everybody, another newbie from the UK!
Found this site last year and found it very useful but this year I thought I'd better say hello!
It's great to see a lot of people on this side of the pond into Halloween and making a great effort - no match to you lot in the USA/Canada though!

I've always loved Halloween since I was a kid, when I was about 7 or 8 I can remember going behind my bedroom curtains and looking out for witches flying past when I should have been asleep - and disappointed when I didn't see any! In my early teens when my mates were building aeroplane or ship construction kits I was building the Phantom of the Opera, Frankenstein's monster and Dracula kits that glowed in the dark.

We've been doing a halloween party now for the last 8 or so years after seeing my step son & girlfriend dressed up and off to a party, I said I'd LOVE to go to a Halloween party to which Lynn, my girlfriend said "Why don't we have our own one" and I've never looked back since.
Each year it has grown and now it's getting harder to improve on the previous years but love trying!!

Current project I'm starting is the Pumpkin sentinels, pity we can't get the Funkin pumpkins over here without paying a fortune, will resort to a proper pumpkin like last year (hollowed out with red LED's in, mounted on a 6 foot wooden frame).

Happy haunting all and good luck with the preparations!

Hi Dave - welcome to the forum. We are getting a lot of new British members at the moment and it is great to see our numbers growing.

If you are interested there is now a UK Secret Reaper running - head over to the thread and have a look maybe?

So DandyBrit, what's this UK Secret Reaper? I've seen it mentioned but not a clue what it is?
Hey Davferatu! Welcome to the forums! Nice to see stuff taking off there.

I'm not inolved but here's a link to the UK reaper thread. Think "Secret Santa" gift exchange with a Halloween spin...

I'm sure the Reaper people can fill in more info.

Hi Dave - Gobby is right - it's a bit like a Secret Santa but at Halloween time. If you sign up you will be assigned a victim and you make up a little package of goodies (either stuff you have made or things you already have/have bought).
The ground rules are in the thread that Gobby linked to. It's the first one we have done here and covers the UK/Europe so it will be fun seeing how it all works out. There is no pressure on anyone to sign up but it hopefully will be a good way to get all the Brit and European haunters interacting - we tend to be a bit quiet on the forum outside of Halloween season.

DandyBrit, I'll have a think about the Secret Reaper but I've got a lot to do with the preps!
Happy haunting all!
Hi Dave. Welcome to the forum from a fellow UK haunter. Why don't you try your hand at a paper mache pumpkin for the Pumpkin sentinels?? They are great fun to make and quite addictive, plus light weight too. Anyway have fun and do check out the Halloween UK thread.

Cheers Minksocks, the thing is its for outside so needs to be waterproof with our weather - I see you're from Manchester as well so you already know!
Do you have a link to the UK thread or is it the Halloween 2015 UK one that you're referring to?
Dave - it's the Halloween 2015 UK one - we are all bemoaning the dearth of good stuff in the shops and cheering whenever anything good is found.

I know what you mean about the weather being a major factor when making your Halloween props but I am putting a varnish on my pumpkins and will be trying them out for the first time this year so I'll see how the varnish holds up to the English weather elements.
Yes its the Halloween 2015 UK one as Dave says..... I'm sure there's a 'league of Gentleman' reference in there somewhere...hahahaha

Cheers Pacman, just come in from the garage, I've started work on the pumpkin sentinel!
Yes I've been looking through the 2015 UK thread but I'm about 2/3rds the way through it!! Lots of good stuff and I'm just about to post on it as near me there's a fancy dress stall in the indoor market which has LOADS of stuff, I've sort of become a regular these last few years and bought some more off them 2 weeks back.
Hope the preparations are going to plan!
Cheers!!
Good for you Daveferatu , glad to hear your flat out lol , been there , done that , bought the t- shirt lol know where your at my friend , yeah saw your pics on the thread your range has more stuff than mine i reckon , but i hope to get back there this week to see if there's anything else i can use , the RANGE has been our only saving grace down here but my daughter went up to Bluewater a very expensive shopping center near Dartford in Kent with her friends [ posh and becks go there apparently ] and they have one of those pop up Halloween stores i think its called 3st street or something similar and she said they had some good stuff , trouble is i cannot spare the time to go up to look need all the time left to get my witch theme finished in time if i can and as i said i have slowed a lot this year lol , if you can try and put some photos on the forum when you get time and if your making anything try to take photos during all the stages as then if you are able you can post tutorials as well , this then helps others and thats what this brilliant forum is all about .
I look forward to chatting with you more in the near future keep us all updated on how your build and plans are going .

My name is Ghost Iki bahahahahah. I am wandering in Seattle.

I love spooky/horror movies, and watch them alone because my husband can't stand the thrill and the fear while watching. I love halloween and love to have spooky external decorations for the treat or trickers to make their trip lots of thrill and fun before they get their candies.
