Hi I'm looking for an outdoor floodlight that I can use to lightup an area roughly 17' by 27'. I haven't had any luck finding anything at home depot or other hardware stores. Maybe someone knows a good site I can purchase from and maybe what kind of lights I should be looking for. I'm pretty new to the whole thing so I don't know much about floods. I'm looking for blue/purple floods. I'm also Canadian so sites that only ship to the U.S. will be of no use to me. Thanks for taking the time to help me out.

Home Hardware in the lighting department. They usually have a limited selection. Walmart, Home Depot, Lowes all have carried them in their lighting departments.

You will need to by the light holder - you may have to buy the bulb separately. The bulbs are usually red, blue, green or yellow.

I mix my flood light colours. Different colours for different sections. Have a look through the forum to see photos of different haunts, some folks have done an amazing job with lighting.

Used to use the incandescent or halogen floods that are sold at Lowe's/Home Depots. Stopped using them for several reasons and switched to LED floods. Not sure who sells in Canada but I had gotten mine from Minion's Web: http://www.minionsweb.com/osStore/50-led-spot-bulb-blue-p-282.html The reason I switched was the old bulbs are wattage hogs, water and grass = color paint on the lens removed and finally - the color saturation sucks. LEDS are the bomb!

The same stores that I mentioned carried the LED as well. They are just a lot more expensive. I don't remember the colour selection.

I use the flood lights in small areas, so I don't have issue with the colour saturation, I think I have about 10 on my front yard. But if you weren't using as many I could see the issue.

I will be switching over to LEDs, but since the cost, I will be doing it only a couple at a time!

I have purchases two at the home and garden stores. I think they will be out closer to Halloween, because they usually stock them for Christmas.
I ordered some holders from amazon and found the bulbs at home depot by my house. I'll probably grab up a bunch of the holders once they start putting them out around christmas.

you need floods, or spots?
there is a big difference.
Take a look at these to reference pieces

Blue and black light purple are no problem in spots, blue is available in floods, working on a blacklight in the floods.

if you need floods, not spots, look at these

No fixture required, just power.

Shipping to canada no problem, but we will ship USPS priority to there, not Fedex/UPS (they charge a crazy fee after the fact that is not published in the rates)
