Hello, fellow haunters!

I am in some serious inspiration for this year's Scary Tales theme. I have unearthed all the wonderful threads from folks around here who have done this in the past who shared amazing props and party ideas. I'm definitely inspired in that area!

For 9 years, I have been sending out a paper or postcard Save the Date at the end of August and the actual, boxed invite the first of October. This year I am probably going to make the save the dates look like a storybook illumination page, but I am STUMPED as to what I should make the actual invite be.

I think there is something very "fairy tale" about locks and keys, but I can't think of what to do there. I've also considered little cages or little books, but I did a little book a few years ago for the Coven theme. I'm not opposed to using that format again if I can't come up with anything better.

Ideally, I'd like it to be as light as possible since I'll already be dropping some serious cash on what will likely be custom-sized boxes and the postage that comes along with that.

I have included a few images of past invitations so you can see the lengths I'm wiling to go to for my precious little boxed invites.

I'm so grateful for any assistance ya'll can provide to get me out of this slump!!

Poisoned apple (like from Snow White) but with the invite info carved or fancy paint pen written on the back

Glass slipper, sole coated in blood (red acrylic paint) with a small scroll

^just an example (these are plastic around 4 inches long)

Custom made petit fours (mini cakes with fancy icing) and an "EAT ME" tag.

Would be cool to make a simple skull and crossbones or other type of poison looking symbol on the cakes... oh, they do make rock candy "broken glass" and also have tiny white chocolate butcher's knife decorations for Halloween sometimes out in places like Michaels and Hobby Lobby.

And I know you said you've done books already, but might consider trying to do a small pop up fairy tale book type of invite. I think it would be quite different from your regular book type, but adding in the pop up would be super fun.

I love this idea! I might do a trial run, time myself, and find out what kind of time investment I'll have ahead of me.

Now all that's left is to write a quick story!
