Hey Haunters, I'm trying to find a small lightweight motor that would create the POTC effect of a seagull's head quickly moving side-to-side, instead of a slow pan (like deer motors do). Any ideas?

My suggestion would be to use a small servo.

Yeah that makes sense, a servo motor is probably the way to go. But what would one use to control the motor so that is basically operating on it's own? Is this where a programmable controller comes in, or is it simpler than that?
