I'm a little bit stuck on what to do with my haunted walk-through for this year. I know you guys are all so creative so I'm hoping someone can inspire me. I have a decent-sized front yard and normally I do a cemetery set-up. Last year I added a 10 x 20 walk-through using two white pop up tents with white sides. I lit the inside of the tent with purple fire & ice lights. I originally wanted to do a lot more but ran out of time (will blame my 3 month old preemie on that one) so I basically threw a couple of tables in there with some small props. I used some skulls, a bunch of LED candles and some small animated things like the GR spellbook. I put the HD reaper in the corner. It was not nearly as filled as I wanted it to be and really had no theme. Any ideas for themes for inside the tent that will match with my cemetery set up?

My style is generally along the lines of Haunted Mansion. No gore and relatively kid-friendly. The reaper was probably my scariest prop. I also plan on turning my shed into a witches shack this year using the AtmosFX Witching Hour projections.

Any suggestions or ideas would be much appreciated because I just can't seem to come up with something.

Thanks!

You can make one of the tents into a mausoleum. You can cover the white sides with some of that stone scene setter.

I guess it depends on your budget and what you already have. A laboratory could take up one whole tent. A fortune teller display could also take up a good amount of space. That one requires just the fortune teller prop and then all the little trinkets. You might find some ideas at these links:

Jezebel82, I posted what I'm doing in the 2016 Grandinroad thread when you were discussing whether to still keep your order for the GR typewriter after getting the horse. Won't repeat it here (a no-no) but here's a link to it instead:

Basically laid out parts of my haunt theme using both props and a small tent. Maybe you can adapt it to your set up or use it as a jumping off point. One tent could be the doctor's lab with the typewriter and the other tent could be the "hospital wing" with big red crosses on the tent to identify it as such. If you have some skeletons, or even masks that you can turn into patients with covers over them, or dead patients would be ones who would be completely covered and a cheap set up, you'd fill up the space and the kids might get creeped out a little bit walking through there. If you were to ditch the haunted mansion theme this year you could still use the cemetary and utilize it for all the patients that the doctor lost. The reaper could be watching over the cemetery waiting for his next client from the doctor's research lab. That would be my quick suggestion.

Oh and while my set up used the horse with a warrior on it, yours could have a horse with a body draped over it going to the grave site.

That's kinda what I was thinking but then how do I decorate the inside where the kids walk through. That's what has me stuck.

Thanks dawnski, I'll check out those links.
You could get some of those linticular pics from dollar tree and make them into memorials for the walls. Put random black rose vases, which can also be made from DT items. The Reaper would definitely fit in. Add some ghosts of some sorts. Eerie lighting. Inexpensive but effective.

Yes!! This is what I was looking for. It's a little hard to explain but I think I'm going to make it a haunted garden/greenhouse/memorial. I have all of the things you mentioned already and it definitely fits in with my aesthetic. Lots of dead flowers, webbing, skulls and candles. Similar a bit to the new Halloween Haven video from Grandin Road. At the end of the tent I plan to make a witches workbench. The idea being that she bottles all her potion ingredients from things she grows in her greenhouse. She's an organic witch ;) This will then segue nicely into my witch shack. I have a lot of the LTD commodities hands. Maybe I can create a fake wall and have the hands holding different potion ingredients. I think I need to go back and find all the videos of Roger's gardens!

Thank you all so much for your help and all the great ideas!! I knew I could count on this forum :)

Hi.
I don't know if this will help, but I also put up tents in my front yard. Here's a video of a day time walk through, no actors just the props. Maybe it will give you some ideas. I don't know why by I can't seem to get to the level of the good folks on here. Maybe this year! LOL

Thanks and give yourself some credit, that looks great! Actually I'm pretty sure I've watched that video before specifically to get ideas for the tents lol. I know what you mean though about not feeling like you can get to the level we see on here. The talent on this forum is amazing. Every year I say ok this will be the year that I'm organized and actually get everything done and it never ever happens.
