Hey guys, I'm working on a haunted tree costume for the haunt this year and I'm hitting a snag. I want/need the tree to look pretty realistic, how do I achieve a realistic looking "bark" on the tree? I've seen Allen Hopps' tree gloves tutorial but silicone caulk over the entire costume would be very hot and heavy. Any help is tremendously appreciated.

You might be able to use 3/4 to 1/2 inch foam padding. The kind you find in couch cushions. You can get it from any craft or fabric store. The stuff should cut super easy into bark shapes and glue/ mount to what ever you need it to.

What is the base for the costume? Do you have something to mount the "bark" onto?

Yeah, I just got that suggestion from Allen Hopps. That sounds like what I'm going to do. The base I'm using is like a morphsuit. Thanks for the suggestion.
