Great job on the mausoleum !!!
Didnt notice if it was brought up but you can use gorilla glue on foam..... Works great.
We used it on out pirate ship last years. You just have to clamp it of sandwich it between something because the gorilla glue expands a little.
Foam is awesome to work with huh ? ! ! ! !

Absolutely! I love working with the foam. It's easy to cut, easy to form, and fairly cheap. Plus, it's nice and light!
In another thread we discussed using gorilla glue. I thought about it, but I went with the Lquid Nails instead. I think from now on, I'll just use the Titebond All Weather glue. It really holds styro and wood together great, and I'm not worried about it's integrity since it's "All Weather".

Don't know if you saw this link before, but here is the Black Clover, a pirate ship float! They've got a lot of great pics on the construction.Excellent work, TK421! I may just have to pop over to take a look in person one of these weekends. BTW, can I commission you to do a pirate ship?

Center top TK on your collage, that is the weathering I think you need to shoot for......plus the NW black mold! Just an admirers opinion! I believe that I have said it before, but just showed the wife and she said...road trip for sure!

I'm drawn to the bottom left myself, once I get everything I want to build done, I'll be doing the detail stuff. Save it for those rainy days in the garage.

I was thinking of going to the local cemetery tomorrow, may go anyways, it's cool to see totem poles in cemetery's up here. Will get some pix if I do.

Love the build, if I built anything using that mush foam I would destroy it in a matter of hours when I tried to store it. I am going to try the TiteBond All Weather on foam. I have never have any luck glueing foam to anything! TK421, what program did you use to draw the diagram?

Storing is a big concern with everything I build. What I think I may do this year is build some "sleeves" out of MDF so that I can store the pieces under my sun porch. The sun porch has about 4 feet of clearance.
The Titebond All Weather (blue label) works really well with the soft foam sheets, but just like Liquid Nails or Gorilla Glue, you need to clamp pieces together for a secure bond. This works especially well when securing the sheets to the 1x1 wood framing.
The program I use is Macromedia Freehand MX. It's a fantastic program that I've used for years. Recently, Macromedia was bought my Adobe, and Freehand has now been rolled into Adobe Illustrator.

Your idea for a drop down "shelve" would work great on a garage ceiling as well. Great idea.

I love this. I'm going to have to talk my husband into letting me build this one. I wanted one and since you made one that can be taken apart is a plus! I love the angel statue , I may make one of those too. I see you use the white styrofoam, have you tried using the blue or pink. Iv'e used the pink for a the "Beloved tombstone I'm building now. I haven't used the white, but I looked at it at Lowes, It's to sponge like for carving. Just a suggestion to help you out a little.

So what is your planned set up date? Would you have everything besides the cider shack up and running a few days before Halloween night?

I usually start setting things up at the beginning of October. I put a lot of times into these facades, and I like to see them and share them as long as possible.
I will probably have a lot of stuff out the first and second week of October, and then bring out more "fragile" props the last week of October.

For tombstones you can't beat the pink styrofoam. It's fantastic and it's all I use. The dense pink and/or blue styrofoam is the only type you should use for smaller projects and things you will carve.
For the facade pieces, I thought I would try something new this year and work with the white styrofoam. It's not as dense, and it's not recommented for "carving" but it's a great alternative to sheets of plywood. It's really light, takes paint well, and can be cut with a knife, which reduces the time and mess one would encounter with plywood or MDF sheets.
The white styrofoam is fragile stuff, so you do need to be careful. I like how my props are turning out, but I am still nervous about the long-term survival of my white styrofoam structures.
This is a big experiment for me.

I was just curious because I am itching to see your completed haunt. But, I am assuming I wouldn't be able to make it Halloween night or the night before. I also really want to get down to Oregon to see the Davis Graveyard. I wanted to go last year, but I just couldn't find the time.
