Alright I have been looking around for a while now and can't seem to find what I am looking for, so time to ask.
I swear their used to be a simple 2d floor plan mapper that used square tiles similar to graph paper.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm sorry that I am not familiar with the software you mentioned. As a suggestion, you could use Google SketchUp in a 2d mode and it is free.

I have been tinkering with Sketchup, I'm just not that familiar with it to be that efficient when using it

Fair enough. Scatterbrains has an interesting idea. I guess you could use Excel. You could format the cell sizes to create a square grid and then use colors to shade the cells for a layout.
