Hey guys hopefully everyone had a very Happy Halloween!!
Ok let me start off by saying that I live in a condo on the 3rd floor we usually decorate the whole building, we only decorate on the back side where we live only and try to scale back from the front due to some of our neighbors being too scared, we never get trick or treaters been living here for over 10 years really miss handing out candy. We had a party last weekend on Saturday it was a hit a ton of people were terrified lol.
On Halloween I wanted to try out trunk or treating at a church/gospel. I called early in the morning to find out the hours and if we needed to pay to participated, I find out its 7 till 8:30 pm and that its free the lady on the phone was very nice!! I decide to bring my mom too to help decorate we head there at 5:45pm to start decorating. I decide to bring some props a dead Debbie zombie girl, 2 clowns that are animated but since there is no outlet around we decide to leave them static non-moving, and a skelly we dress up as a female, and a ring girl, along with other small props. We start setting up the clowns and put the zombie girl on the roof on the car, we immediately get cars stopping by taking pics. We are half done decorating when 1 of the pastors comes to our car and shakes our hands and we introduce ourselves he looks at our car and tells us we normally don't do gore or too scary we apologize and he says its ok and says do you mind putting the clowns away we ask about the rest which he says is fine I tell him im sorry this is out first trunk or treat he says its ok then leaves. I put one of our clowns in the back seat of my car so the small ones don't see and put a chair by the other one they are midget clowns so not too big. The folding chair covered the other clown so the little ones wouldn't see. I finish the car and then after I get it all done, another pastor comes along looking at the cars there was only like 2 including mines, it was 6:20 we figured more cars would show. The people in the other cars kept shaking their heads and got inside their car. The 2nd pastor comes up to us and shakes my hand and said did you call before coming??!!! I said yes I did and spoke with a woman over the phone. He said oh? Well we do "biblical" trunk or treats to show the small kids nothing scary or gorey I told him sorry we did not know and that the lady never told me that which she did not, she said no worries its not your fault, Ill ask if someway we can tie this in with the bible, I was thinking maybe he could say our car was the devils lol and evil is never good. He came back and said im sorry we don't think this will fit in with our mission. We have some decorations you could use though, I declined and said no thanks he said he was very sorry and he said I know all these props were costly and you finished setting up I told him again I was very sorry and he said no need to be no one told you. So we took everything down
I felt kinda bad and disappointed the car looked great!! I think the first pastor should of told us this when we were half done setting up instead of us finishing and having the other pastor come up and telling us that all our stuff wasn't allowed and that the trunk or treat was biblical?
Have any of you guys done trunk or treating? Are they all mostly biblical? I remember one year this church not too far from me did an actual haunted house inside the church in the basement and their props were extremely scary and gorey!!
