So we've got 8 stings of LED pumpkin lights and last night right when I went outside to look at them, half of one of the strings reduced their brightness to about 30%. Is this a bad bulb on the chain? All are still lit except that half of a sting is just very very dim. Never seen that before. I'm trying to figure out the best way to diagnose this.

I had a similar problem with led Christmas lights. What happened was one of the capacitors in the voltage regulators blew. Was unable to repair it in my case. As the regulator was sealed. Check for any bulging either at the plug or anything attached to the length of lights.

Are you sure you can string that many together? You may want to check the box to see how many you can put in series and the wiring may not be able to support the required current for 8 strings.
sorry, they aren't strung together just in total each with its own extension cord
