What a great idea for a watermelon. So much more festive than trying to make it look like a basket.
We do a great deal of our prop making during July because it's one of our dryer months and much easier to paint things. Just for fun, we will take our tombstones out and put them out on the lawn while we work. People walking by talk to us about what we're doing and we tell them about what we do come Halloween. We hope that it encourages passers by to return a few months down the road.
This year, we have a surplus of foam from our furniture store gatherings and we're contemplating having a neighborhood Tombstone Making Seminar. It would be just for fun, but maybe another haunter will be born when they see a piece of foam turn into a tombstone. If they can have Christmas in July sales all month long, I certainly see nothing wrong with spicing up the month with a bit of Halloween.
