Hey fellow haunters I am in search of some great Halloween reading material. I really like the look of the Eerie Elegance book by Britta Peterson and am hoping to add a few more to my shopping cart at Amazon. Any of you boils and ghouls have some ideas you could send my way. Thanks and happy haunting!! :D

Books with decor and techniques and ideas, or just Halloween related in general?

I've always liked Tom Nardone's Extreme Pumpkins 1 & 2, and Extreme Halloween. I do love a flaming pumpkin.

Just bought Paper Mache Monsters by Dan Reeder after seeing a blog showing how he does fabric mache. Some nice ideas, and useful for building more than just monsters, figures, or static props - I'm seeing lots of potential for costume and weapons pieces.

ETA: I also like the JB Corn books, more for pros but there is good information for haunting in general. Especially the bit about how there are always that little group of people you won't scare, who come to be entertained. Those can be found here: http://www.chillisintheair.com/jb-corn/

The very first haunt book I ever bought was How to Operate a Financially Successful Haunted House by Phillip Morris and Dennis Phillips. I ordered it out of the back of a Famous Monsters magazine when I was in high school. It covers everything from advertising to decorating to the day-to-day tasks of running a haunted house. The haunt scenes it describes are pretty tame, but the real strong point of this book is the motivation factor. It is incredibly positive and makes you feel that you cam accomplish anything with a little elbow grease and a bucket of red paint!
