It's ten days out from Halloween, and I'm still getting just 20% off any item coupons from Spirit. And today was the first day I got a 20% off any item without a minimum purchase requirement. Usually this close to the big day they are at 30-40% off, so I guess their pre-Halloween sales numbers are doing pretty good, and that's good to see.

You can sign up on their website, and the Halloween Express site, for coupons and specials. They'll email them to you, and you can use them online to at the store.

I can't tell you the last time I got anything other than a 20% coupon. And both my wife and I have our emails registered.

I made my first trip to Spirit last weekend, and I was pretty surprised by their mask selection, which was near zero. I remember going to Spirit stores in the early 2000s and them having a whole wall of masks. Now it's just a corner. I asked the gal working there about it and she said most folks buy masks on the internet now. Costumes still sell, but not masks.

I'm with Scatterbrains, nothing there that is exactly my cup of tea. So why did I drop $200? Well, hey, Glow- In-The-Dark contact lenses for my Vampire daughter, a Werewolf mask with an extenable jaw for her boyfriend, an Atmosfear FX DVD, some cheap crap that I can integrate into the graveyard, it adds up...

I'm glad Bruzilla posted about this as I was remembering a 40% off coupon before Halloween last year too! Was hoping for one again to add another animatronic this year before the big day, but will just force myself out of bed on Sunday morning to hit the 50% off sale for next year instead. I have to admit I've spent a LOT more at Home Depot than Spirit this year ;)

Last year they had a one day coupon sale for 40% on 9/15. Then they had the regular 20% coupon and occasional 30% coupons, and on 10/5 they a friend and family coupon for 35% off. It is all memorialized in last year's Spirit coupon threads. I missed the 40% day, but I cashed in on the 30% and the 35% off before holiday coupons. This year the manager gave me a $50 discount on each display tree that I bought. The register price was $200 each before discount.

I spoke to the local Spirit area manager the other day. He said that the largest discount this year so far was the 35% off Friends and Family Day which was on Oct. 4. Last year somebody posted the coupon to the forum and to the best of my knowledge no one did this year. Probably why we all missed it.
