Anyone who has the Tekky Gruesome Granny prop.....she looks amazing. I got mine from a yard sale. The guy said she worked. Well, guess what? She moves, leans down to the baby she is holding, her eyes and the baby's eyes light up. But I hear she is supposed to sing to the baby as well? Can't seem to make that part work, and as she looks down on the baby, the gears in her neck get caught up and make a super loud noise. Has anyone taken her apart? If I could figure what wire goes to just their eyes, I could deal without the singing and the other movement. Any ideas?
Too Funny. I came here to post about the exact same thing. Mine does all the movements but no sound. I did find that there is an orange wire on mine that comes out of pin-3 on the 5-pin connector of the main circuit board that is in the connector but the other end doesn't connect to anything. I've emailed Tekky Toys asking for a wiring diagram but not holding my breath on a response.
Can you check yours to see if that orange wire goes anywhere or is it unconnected on yours as well?
I was looking to regain full functionality so I didn't do a full teardown but I did do some minor disassembly and checking last night. From what I can tell that pin-3 orange wire on the 5-pin connector is not used. I removed all the hot glue blobs and checked and resoldered any that appeared loose. Both wires on the volume control were a bit loose feeling but appeared to be connected. Resoldered them anyway. Put her back together and suddenly nothing worked. After a few moments of turning the air black with profanities I calmed down and rechecked every connection then mapped each to their destination and removed the entire board to recheck with my mag visor all the solder points on the back. This was a poin because they soldered some wires directly to some of the back pins. Nothing stood out so I reinstalled the board and began tracing the power flow with my meter and she started working. Sound and all! I wish I could say exactly what fixed her but I can't point to any specific thing I did. I recommend you check every connection, unplug and reseat each, check for any loose solder joints and repair if you have the means.
If you're just wanting the eyes to light up and couldn't care less about the singing and movements then the Baby's eyes are the small 2-pin connector with red/black wires. Those are easy to trace and confirm, just undo her velcro and look at the wires that run into her sleeve. As far as her eyes goes, I did not get to the point of tracing those but there are only a few wires that run from the board up into her neck and head. If you've already got gear grinding sounds then you probably have a gear missing a tooth that is going to fail completely one day. Since movement isn't a priority for you, you could take her head off and see if you can spot which wires feed the eyes. There is a hole in the base of her head that may let you see. Then again the wires from below might just feed to another circuit board so if that is the case then it'll be a different set of wires completely feeding her eyes.
I hope something in my ramblings helps you out
