Its not the scariest thing i have ever seen but if you put it in a room with very dim lighting i think it could be creepy as hell. What i really like about this prop is that you have no idea if it is just going to keep rocking or if it is gonna leap out at you. For that reason alone i would get it.

I say yes

You could probably make the prop yourself for a lot less. Use some PVC pipe, and old dress, a mask and wig, and a talking boris skull hooked up to an MP3 or CD player.
Wow, the animated owl I bought from Lowe's for $5.00 does the same thing as the owl they want $2,000 for! Hey, I saved $1,995.00!!

Dave's right..this is a very easy prop to make yourself for a lot less cash.

I did a similar thing last year, using a corpsified styrene skull, a basic armature and some old PJ's, housecoat and shawl that I picked up at a local charity shop for just a few pounds.

The rocking chair is something I've had for ages. (every home haunt should have at least one)
and was rocked by a wiper motor and cam operating on a roller on one of the chair "runners"
I also had a motion sensor that triggered a cackling laugh when the TOT's approached.
it was quite effective, as a lot of the visitors expected "Gran" to leap out of the chair at them!!
You can see a couple of photo's of her on the "Halloween 2008" album on my profile thingy.
(She did look creepier in the dim light, though.)

Is that Grandma, or is that Robert Plant... ;)

$250 seems like a lot when I can get the same effect by having the mother-in law sit outside. See even has the cackling down :D

I saw a video on youtube last fall that showed a great way to use this...stick a trash-can trauma beside it and while everyone is focused on what grandma is doing, you'll make them soil their pants when the trash can comes to life

I bought one at Haunt Show in St. Louis this past weekend..sure, you could easily make it yourself, but I got it for 198.00, which seemed like a decent price for a moving prop...it's REALLY creepy in person, and the soundtrack is actually very funny as well..it's very awesome..I should be getting in a few weeks...

I would have to change the hair. It just doesn't look grandma-ish to me. I would want more of a "Norman's mother" look. Yeah, I would try to make one before I spent that kind of cash, but I'm kind of a tightwad...

This prop is awesome in person. Extremely detailed. I bought mine before seeing it in person this weekend and I'm glad I did. Got her for 198.00 also.

I say get it, you won't be sorry.

A great effect of having this prop would be the dim lighting, but have her facing a mirrior. Then when people walk by it then can see the reflection. For a simple set up she could be at a vanity trying to put on make up or something.
