this is just a vent thread.. I felt i needed a boost aside from my social media which most dont understand my obsession for our fave holiday. SOOOO here it goes..... between deaths, car wrecks, other serious health issues from other family members/friends add to that the weather we just had a couple days ago literally ripping my tombstones out of the ground and blowing them 6 houses down from my own and into the neighbor's BACK YARD .. and the gas tank on the vehicle that the hubby and i are taking on our anniversary/vac trip in 3 days ... found 3 pinholes in it as we were washing the undercarriage. this wouldnt be quit so bad except we are pulling our camper to the beach and so its not like we can just jump in my car and go ... i wont go into the other things mentioned abv ... no specific comment needed for my own post... just wanted to give everyone else a chance to vent without comments necessary.. .. hope everyone has a wonderful day..:(;):eek::cool::eek::):D

I feel I am way behind. Today is outside decorating day, possibly inside too. My remodeled guest bath that was started the day after labor day is STILL not done, despite the contractor saying it will take 2 weeks, so I can't decorate in there yet. My party is in 3 weeks and I am not 100% done with the menu and have not started buying candy. No car wrecks or health problems, but I feel your frustration.

It's getting to the point that we need a forum for rant threads

Or maybe just a single rant thread titled "RANT HERE!" & we can have at it! We can rant about how uninspired we are, how behind we are, how much we hate Spirit, how much the weather sucks, how little stuff is in the stores, how early Christmas is out, etc. etc. just anything that gets us hot under the collar this time of year.

Uninspired is the word for me right now. I was inspired yesterday around 4PM. It lasted an hour before I had to stop & get ready to leave for a family birthday party.:p

Now, I have a too-much-sangria headache, it's cold & windy outside & I don't even wanna walk downstairs to get my stuff. I just wanna lie here on the sofa watching An American in Paris with the lovely Gene Kelly & Leslie Caron.

Two of my kids just came down with coxsackie A6, which is an atypical hand foot and mouth disease. It is the more serious type of this usually mild disease.

I am sure I will get it. One of the features of this disease is large oozing facial, hand, and foot lesions.

Hopefully, I can play it off as part of a costume.

I've been working 12 hour days trying to catch up on some unexpected medical bills for my wife....It's going to take until Christmas to catch up.....Needless to say I'm not getting the evenings outside to enjoy my favorite time of the year at all....By the time I get off work it's dark out....Now this weekend has been cold and windy so I didn't even get outside because of the wind....errrr......ZR

That's tough. I wish you both the best.
Maybe it's just me, but it seems like every other thread on the boards this year is a rant or complaint about something or other. I admit, I'm really not feeling it this year either but I think ranting is just going to feed the negativity I'm already struggling with. I need to go look at some pictures of jack o'lanterns or something instead.

I'm still behind but after my earlier post I bought a perfect pumpkin that is now sitting on my dining room table and some buy one get one free candy at the grocery store, put up a few decorations, so now I feel better. I also ate nearly an entire box of pumpkin jojo's. If you have a trader joe's near you - I highly recommend them. Pumpkin flavored goodies make everything better.

I'm feeling a little exhausted. I volunteered for Friday and Saturday nights (not Halloween though!) at the other local haunt. Lots of fun, but cheezes I'm wiped out and having a bit of a hard time getting to my own to-do list. I've still got a bunch of stuff to paint, a mermaid to corpse, things to build, costumes to sort out, people to nag into showing up...

That said, I am SUPER stoked about the stuff I do already have done.

Funny, because all my time is going into building three horses right now. I have the wood cutout for the fourth, but no time to work on it.
A series of setbacks in early September had left me frustrated, highly stressed, and overwhelmed. My inspiration for Halloween and props was gone. I finally decided to stop working on props altogether, quit beating myself up for not finishing everything I had planned, and just enjoy the season. The chilly weather this past weekend has rejuvenated my Halloween spirit, and I'm working on some smaller projects now.

Oh... I was so tired of the negativity on this forum this year... I felt so so prepared this year and it felt like every other thread was about how 'not pumped' everyone was. I had everything pretty much bought and planned out and soooo much done. I bought so many pumpkin things and new horror movies to watch so I could enjoy every second of October....

and then 9/22 I started off with a cough and sore throat then ended up with a stomach virus and a week of not being able to eat any tasty pumpkin treats or really anything other than jello and then the whole sore throat/cough rounded out into a flu which I finally got over about 10/1.... when I had to work over because I'd missed so much time. Now I just have a cough, but its time to get busy now right!?!

No... now my husband has the flu... a bad one that started Friday 10/3 and is still ongoing. And I am short... I am about 4 inches too short to reach the ceiling on the highest step on the ladder I'm willing to climb so nothing has gotten done and its just crushing me.

I did finish favor bags... but thats about it. I thought at least my house would be clean and I'd have a few decorations up to enjoy.... nope.

And he's still super sick... and I'm sure he'll get well around Wednesday... they day he works two jobs. Then Thursdays we both have activities after work.... lets just hope that we can manage something on Friday.

I was so prepared this year... I was going to get it done so early.... and now it feels like its just gone.

The next two Sundays are booked and his parents want us to come down before the party...which is on 10/25... not to mention our friends who keep wanting to hang out and I keep having to say no.

This thread was a good idea. We should contain all the frustration/rants here and just complain to our heart's content. I feel better.

This has been a strange year for me as well. Normally I start planning and building props in the April/May time frame. This year, I didn't do anything until this past weekend. Now the creative juices are flowing and I'm planning my maze and have put up my cemetery. Started a build on a new Laser Vortex, but that is about it. Sure I bought a few new props, but that usually isn't my MO either, I like to build everything. Oh well, still should be a good year. Keep your heads up everyone.

I'm starting to feel a little stressed about party planning and decorating, but that's just the way I operate. I *love* projects, and I set goals for myself that are just the wrong side of rational. As deadlines get close, I worry that I won't be able to manage, but when it happens, I'm euphoric. If a few odds and ends aren't wrapped up, it doesn't matter. We all have a good time.
