Thanks the blocks pretty much distress when they are cut with a handsaw I added the cracks and holes. The paint was sprayed on latex black from walmart with a sprayer then I skim coated drylok over it letting the black still show through a bit. That looks wonderful! I like how you used blocks instead of cutting out mortar lines around each stone. What tools did you use to distress the blocks and what kind of paint/sealer did you use? Please do share when you put the whole mausoleum together!
the blocks were easier. I have done columns out of sheets and it was way more work. the best part is that this was almost free to build.Do you find using separate blocks easier or more difficult than cutting the mortar lines in one big sheet?
Im following your build. would like to see how it turns out. This was fairly easy except for cutting the blocks in 4 pcs. And it was less expensive than buying foam sheetsWow! I really like it but man this looks way harder then what I'm doing right now.
WoW WoW WoW!!! Magnifecent work.Making some progress on this. Still needs doors a roof and some finishing touches

Thanks for the post. I have used blocks of foam to create walls for my mausoleums as well, but have always backed them in traditional stage frames with a sheet of something supporting them, be it plywood or political signs. I notice that your approach provides needed support, but leaves spaces between the stones that let light through. I'm thinking that might lead to some very eerie back lighting where light creeps out from the cracks. I'm going to have to give it a try.Ive been working on this all year when i get time. Thought it might help with ideas for other haunters.
