Hey everyone, I wanted to open up a thread for my first party where I can ask questions to all of you experienced party goers and hosts. I’ve been threatening to have a party for the last few years but it has never actualized for various reasons. This year I have everything in place and already have the ball rolling. My first question is regarding invites. Do evites, Facebook invites, or hand delivered physical invites get the best response? Due obligations I’ve already committed to in October, the only day I have available to host is on Saturday the 13th so I think I need to get invites out soon so I can check that off my list.

Thanks in advance for the help!

i've done both evites and facebook invites, and i don't think either one works great. it seems it's easy to ignore an electronic invitation, but honestly i'm not sure how much better paper invites work either. i tend to think that people who are going to respond will respond regardless of the method, and same goes for those who won't. i would guess maybe paper invites may be a little more successful, but also quite a bit more costly. nothing beats free. :D

I think you can also reinforce the invites with word of mouth. Assuming you're inviting friends, family neighbors and not total strangers.

We also invite the neighbors and since we don't have everyone's email, my wife will go around with a printed flyer. If it's a new neighbor, she'll introduce herself and explain it's a costume party, pass long the invite flyer, etc. Most neighbors don't show up, but we have a good amount that do.

I always do paper invites that I mail or hand deliver. I don't think your delivery method matters so much, some people just don't rsvp and some don't think anything of saying yes and not showing up. Both groups are in the minority however. Most people are happy to be invited and honor their rsvp.

Since you all are much more creative than myself, I wanted to revive my original thread to hopefully get some suggestions on how to decorate the entrance into my party. I have a small enclosed space that leads into my back yard that I want to set up a scene in to walk guest through as they arrive. I tried to attached some pictures, hopefully it works. Any thoughts are appreciated!

This is an older thread, you may not receive a response, and could be reviving an old thread. Please consider creating a new thread.
