Saturday night in Maryland was absolutely perfect for the party this year! The wind died down so I could put out all of the outdoor props, the temperature was amazing so doors and windows were open, the deck was utilized as was our fire pit out back. No coats, or cold, or rain issues. We we so very very blessed.
Tthe party went well. Good number of guests, some great imaginative costumes, the haunt was well received. My wife always doe a nice spread of food, and this time was no exception.
Our theme was Poe - I dressed as Poe, my wife looked fantastic in a gothic black dress as "The Lost Lenore" (Excuse me did you see Lenore? She's lost, and - oh wait, there she is. Nevermind...)
The highlight of the evening for me - 2 families of friends combined their efforts and talents, and came as "An angry mob", the classic mob you're familiar with in many old Universal horror pictures! There was the Baron, The Burgher Meister, Tavern maid and Barkeep, and villagers. They literally stormed up our driveway with huge lit torches, pitchforks, blunder-buster gun, etc. The Barmaid's weapon was a St. Paulie Girl long armed Beer tap handle! It was the most amazing site, and guests that had already arrived got a special treat seeing them. Like I said it was the highlight of the evening for me. You know it's a good party when you've got angry mobs after you.
So all went well. My wife and I finished cleaning up around 3 a.m., went to bed, had breakfast around 9, then slept until 2 in the afternoon!
