I have 6 outside recessed, halogen, down facing floodlights. As well as two coach lights near the door.

Trying to decide on colors. Any help is appreciated. I'm on my own here.

My decor is kid friendly, animal skeletons and pumpkins, nothing gory though.

There's a light over the window as well:

Given it is kid friendly I would do very little and leave your display well lit with white lights. The white light will allow the orange of your pumpkins to shine. Perhaps orange or purple in the two lights on the sides of the double car garage to offer a little contrast. Otherwise, I like the warm welcome feel your existing lights offer.
If you decide to go a little less kid friendly I would consider different colours depending on the direction you go.

Here are a few pics of the exterior lighting I use on my house:

I have experimented over the years with green and blue lighting on the house (green is my favorite). Last year, I found some UV LED lights that gave a deep violet glow that I plan to use this year all over, in one of the pics, you can see the UV lighting in the middle. Whichever you choose, I recommend using PAR LED bulbs. The only issue I had was they were too bright. To remedy this, I used old sheets over the bulbs to tone down the lights. Since LED's are cool/warm to the touch, it worked fine.

I think you can use colored lights and still remain kid-friendly. I would try one color on the house, like green or purple, and another color near the door, like blue, purple or orange (orange being the brighter color).

Instead of using a single-colored bulb, we bought a bunch of the Escolite led Flood Light from Amazon. This allows us to change colors until we find the combination we like. These, of course, would not replace the existing bulbs. However, there are LED bulbs that change colors which can be used as replacements for the existing bulbs.

I like a blue glow on the house for that moonlight feel, but I also have some green and red spots here and there. It's a little harder for me though because I have a yellow streetlight across the street that I have to fight with. I need some strong lights to drown out that yellow.

I don't have any down facing lights, so that might have a different effect, but here is a picture that might help to give you a gist of what it might look like...

Joker, your lighting looks good! I am probably in overkill mode using the 7 landscape lights on my house when 2-3 Par 38's would do.

This year, I plan to use UV LED floods on the house to get that deep purple/blue (violet) look.

Thanks MrNightmare! I wouldn't say my display is kid unfriendly, but I'm a big fan of blue on the house. It's easy on the eyes and draws attention. Despite having AtmosFear FX in both upstairs windows and some fearsome props in the front door foyer with the door open, most kids came up thrilled. I only had 2 very small kids so scared to not come up to the door, but then I walked out and gave them candy at a distance they felt safe at. :)

White spots coming from the down-facing lights would definitely keep things well lit, but then it won't feel much different then any other day. Just my 2¢

You're right Joker, blue (cool colors) are easy on the eyes and give a cold back drop, even if your using kid friendly decor, would still look great.

lllysium, might I suggest: since your house appears to be a light color, I might recommend using Blue or a cooler color light to darken it just a bit. With your house being lighter in color, bright colors will reflect and stand out more. If your house were darker, than green or red would be absorbed more.

Agreed, I'm really digging the blue.

The blue does look good, you might try layering your lighting with UV (violet), Blue, and even green. Here is a pic I found on the web:

Last night, I tested out some UV LED bulbs in my landscape lights:

The picture makes the light appear brighter than it actually is. I really like the look of the cold dark purple and having the UV glow is an added bonus. With dark orange light effects in the windows (props and J-o-L's), I think it will look good. I will also try to add layering lighting as pictured above.
