Experience with a snow machine?

Has anyone used those fake snow machines for an atmospheric effect? I want to incorporate one into an Ice Dragon next year. I didn't know they even existed until I came across one on Froggy's website a few days ago. I think it would be really unique to have a dragon shooting blue dyed snowflakes out onto the horde of skeletons that have come to attack him.

Liquid snow machines are essentially blowers that use a diluted soap solution. The fluid is pumped through a mesh "filter material" that has a blower behind it. They are all loud. Even the "Silent Storm" professional model is incredibly loud. I don't know about coloring the fluid, but I don't see what it could hurt...other than dispersing a possibly staining material on everything the "flakes" touch.

Froggy's will probably have one at the LDI show in a few weeks. PM and remind me to check it out and I will give it a looksee and ask them about coloring the fluid.

Thanks for the feedback. The videos I was able to see on youtube kind of gave me the impression that it wasn't exactly quiet, but I didn't know the how/what of the composition of the "flakes". I'll have to make sure my dragon roar is plenty loud coming through the speakers to offset it.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N4BlVZ4x4Sw I believe I set it to full blower (no snow, but that wouldn't affect the sound)
Sounds about like a loud vacuum cleaner, more or less?

Pass, pass, and pass. I'm a bikini weather kind of guy.

I asked them about this at LDI.

Per Adam Pogue from Froggy's Fog "NEVER color your snow fluid. That color will be transferred to everything it touches and places you never imagined! Color snow with lights only."

He sounded like he spoke from experience.

Thanks for the information. Who knows if I'll ever get to actually build it though, life decided to take a major **** on me a few days before Thanksgiving.
