What an Awesome forum. Glad to be on board.

Each year I've been expanding on my haunted drive way walk. This year I plan on having my Trick or Treat guests follow a new route that will incorporate my back yard. I just put a new 10x14 SHED in the backyard last week and planned on using it for one of my scenes. Guests will walk by it but not actually enter the shed so in effect it's actually now just a big stage to do with as I please.

At my first scene I will have a mad scientist.
Second scene is Shed....
Third Scene will be a haunted mind shaft
Forth scene will be a large tent maze filled with various haunts.

I should have about 12 actors helping me out this year and each tour is lead by a guide so scenes can be a mini show. My question to you guys/girls is if you had an empty shed for a spooky canvas, what would you do with it? View attachment 6654

i dont know but it looks like a good thing to do something with maybe a guy with a chainsaw coukd be used somewhere or maybe a few strobelights
First thing that pops into mind...witch, oven and hansel and gretel!! ok ok so my mind is a lil twisted lol
We've turned our shed into a slaughterhouse, mad scientist's lab, crypt, and I'm thinking of making it into a witch's lair.
BDF385: I love the chainsaw gag and was thinking of going that route. Last year I had that effect in which my zombie's are mowed down by a guy with a chainsaw. Worried that repeat business would expect it though. Hmmm?

NewbieHaunter: I like the Hansel and Gretel idea. So far my kid actors haven't come through (they'll be out trick or treating) but it's certainly got me thinking now. The children come out putting down bread crumbs and then a witch jumps out and stuffs them in a fake oven. Those doors open very wide too so it would be a good visual-- followed by the closing of the doors to end the show. Hmmm.
I love that shed...I NEED that shed (for storage)! Its a great setting, looks like its in the woods. Looks like a doll house. I'm thinking some "bad babysitting" here, with a rocking granny type character and a bunch of dolls. Or maybe the dolls (evil children) taking revenge on granny? Even though the shed is new and attractive, the style and location seems like it would lend itself easily to something very very creepy. Oohhh, maybe something with spiders and victims.

Ohh-- a Granny character! Like the old Lady who lived in the shoe. I got a perfect rocking chair too. Because the shed will be left empty until Halloween.. her sitting there by herself all sweet and grandmother like would be a great effect. Then a monster pops open a window and talks to the viewers about what he plans to do to our sweet Granny. Then Granny picks up a chainsaw or saw and becomes a badass and takes out the monster. Would be funny and the idea of these scenes is to make some scarry and some funny.
I think some lil kids begging for help to get out, and then a witch who pulls them away from the window. Lotsa screaming like they're being tortured will help.

To make it a learning experience, the witch can scream things like:

"See what happens when you don't make your bed"

"See what happens when you don't eat your vegetables"

"It seems like all that video game playing has made you to fat and lazy to escape"
I'm leaning towards the witch and Hansel and Gretal. You can fix up the house to look like a house of candy fairly easily. Or you could have the doors open with some zombies. The skys the limit, or shed anyway.................. LOL
Thanks everyone. I think I'm leaning towards Cinders idea of an Evil Granny scene. Sweet Granny rocking in her chair reading a book inside the shed. A monster pops up from a window and talks about what he plans on doing to the Granny. He closes the door-- Sceams, flashing lights, smoke, chainsaw noice, etc... doors open to have Granny now holding the head of monster yet still acting all sweet. With adult actors, it seems the most plausible. A Hansel and Gretal scene might be something I'll do next year as I'll have a bit of time to recruit some young looking actors.

Now in my mine shaft scene I plan on having an actor meet the guests at the entrance and say "Gee Wilakers people, we're just about to blow the shaft but I think you have time to make it. through. Once inside, the shaft will open up to a larger mine room (AKA an enclosed car port tent) and another mine shaft guy will be ready to push down on a TNT box. He'll yell-- who let you in here , it's about to blow ...and then???? I'm thinking I can have a loud bang and maybe a mummy can come out of a wall or something but the problem is scenes have to be reset every 5-10 minutes or so. There is only so much you can do to make a mummy look like it's coming to life and breaking out of an effect. Any ideas on what other effect might work in the mine shaft once everyone has been pushed to area that the TNT goes off? I searced mine shafts here for a while but most were awesome props that you couldn't go through. I realize that this will mostly be an acting scene and not really LOOK that great. A startle is what I'm after. :D Maybe Cardboard boxes or somethign but that would look lame. (albeit safe.)
